This Bug (that some thrusters and/or RCS and/or Hovers are deactived on spawning) is known and a Fix will come in 8.0 as far as I know.
It might be the crazy amount of hover engines, might be my game giving me the finger. No idea.

Part 2, If you are meaning the Thrusters, same with RCS, never got one damaged through my testruns, and playthroughs with the ThunderTank in 6.x. There will be a change in the future where all Thrusters need to be exposed, this is made to be already prepared for that ;-)

If you are on the second pilot chair in the back, there needs to be alot of Damage this Tank has to collect to be in a worry ;-)
As I said, I conquered a whole planet including a P1 without inbetween repairing (which would have even lowered the damage/lost blocks/devices I had gotten) and I even was in the main pilot cabin that time ;-)
Give it a try run ;-) you won't be disappointed ;-)
@Cardinal:
1) the first Pilot Seat is an enclosed cabin behind 1-3 layers of windows, and a second pilot chair is in the back room airtight through Forcefields. I've killed a few POIs (5-6, including a P1!) without repairing inbetween, and yes got a hull breach (3 window blocks shot through), and some gatlings and (sadly because of the Z&E costs) Drill Lasers, but anything else, including the first pilot chair were still intact.
2) The RCS on the outside are only for the show, even if they would all be destroyed - which in my testrun against different POIs not even one was ever damaged, as I was always direct facing the enemy! - there are still many more secured in the tank ;-)
RCS are no explosive Devices so there will no Chain Reaction occur either ;-)
Numbers: All outside Showcase-RCS: 18, Total intern secured RCS: Additional 100 !! ;-)
(These Showcase-RCS weren't on SuperKilln's Thundertank so that was my own idea here ;-)
The armor won't matter too much when the pilot area is visible though.
Also I'm worried about the exposed devices on the side of the tracks.
I would try to suggest something, but since it's based off another design I don't know if you are going to make any changes.
