I love the weather settings you can change aside from the fact that it didnt work... I may have downloaded wrong? another step to set up? or broken?

Best mod for the trees i found so far, and it looks natural.

Temperatures will now be calculated using a maximum and minimum values and no longer by an offset. This to allow bigger variations in temperatures without reaching extremely high or low temperatures.

Newfoundland has been added as new location, a harsh climate with long winters and deforested areas. Villagers will have to fight against the freezing cold and starvation from day one.

I never included the option to configure the tree settings to make sure it wouldn’t interfere with people using the mods which already changed it. However I remember using the forest mod to change tree growth and aging and I think it had options to change the settings.

This is a cool mod! Do you think you could add a growing time and lifetime setting with this mod ? i would like to get a long long growing time (for care of wood cutting). Or do you know how i could do this myself ? thanks .

Normally this mod should work with any mapseed and custom maps. The configuration of trees hasn’t been altered except the chances of certain types to spawn. Mods which change the amounts of wood, age, etc. should work without conflicting with this mod.

also will this mod allow me to dial down the durability of trees?

i keep finding that my foresters are always dying of starvation or hypothermia just because they spend far too long trying to cut down a single tree..

It is a script which changes the ratio of certain trees and gives an offset to the temperature to mimic a change in vegetation. The differences are best noticed when creating a new map.

If you untick the change weather option you will get the default temperature.

you know there is also very cold places in france and we have a lot of pine and spruces especially in mountains. Also the mont blanc, the tallest mountain in europe is in france... Really? 3/4 is in Italy... but yes.. sure.. Monte Bianco is in France, and the eiffel tower is in Italy.

Just because you have a mountain, doesn't mean your country is mountainous. Switzerland is mountainous. France is not.

It started with making a more southern type of vegetation, but the in-game trees were a bit limited to do this. However with some help from megadori I found out that you can scale trees, allowing for some additional tree models to use. When possible I will try and make some changes to the mod.

Update:

I like it. The animals aren't a problem with Francia. If you need more density, make it.

I haven't tried the others, but since the concern with a lot of people was about Francia's animals, I note that I had no difficulty with progression in Francia's environment.

In the modifications menu you can find an option button next to this mod, when you click on it you will get a dropdown menu with the 4 possible locations.

The Scandinavian look is fantastic. I have moved the trees closer together though (with another mod). I think I use tree radius 3.

"Scandinavia" makes the game look almost unwelcoming, in a good way. The look and barren-ish valleys, makes you wanna fear the coming winter, with a cold wind blowing through. Brrr! Nice with some change.

I’m not a 100% certain as I hadn’t had the time to fully playtest the maps and see the overall effect they have, and I might have forgotten about the less animals with less trees part. But the main idea was to just change the appearance and not the overall gameplay, so I might tweak the numbers if they cause to much of a change.

Interesting mod. I'm guessing that Francia will have less animals to hunt? Since the mod will create "open spaces and smaller trees". I understand that wild animals prefer dense forest.
