yea AI really cant compete without his dozen free units. Wonder if i can combine this mod with the other AI mods that supposedly make it smarter.

Is there a version that just gives them a few less free warriors? I like a challenge, but I don't like immediately getting steamrolled instantaneously

The mod works fine for me. There are no lines about leaders in the mod files. I think it will work even with leader mods.

I would imagine it probably removes starting units and bonuses from leaders that existed in 2019 and nothing afterwards

@MaskedStrangers thanks for clearing that up. Is there any mod that simply allows you play on any difficulty with all AI bonuses remaining the same as the player?

This mod half works.... you can see by using the debug mode and reveling the map on turn one. Some AI have extra units, some don't. Weird.

The mod removes the starting units and civic/tech boosts, the AI will still have the production bonuses so they will still be able to create builder faster than you
Also a free builder is one of the rewards from goody huts, they could've just gotten that as well

around turn 10 on Emperor and Marathon and AI has already built a farm. Takes me 30 turns for a builder. Not sure if this is working.

Difficulty also adds faster production/science/culture or combat bonus. Check out the wiki for all bonuses AI gets at higher diffculties.

Can also confirm that the AI is still spawning with extra units on higher difficulties. I've had this mod for a while and I've only noticed it not working the past few weeks. Any ETA on a fix?

works fine for me. there are no extra settlers or units for the AI on deity.

Can confirm. This mod doesnt work and the AI still spawns with extra settlers and warriors on higher difficulty. (Gathering Storm/Rise and Fall, only missing a few civ dlcs)

They are in Leaders.xml and the ModifierIds are HIGH_DIFFICULTY_COMBAT_SCALING and HIGH_DIFFICULTY_UNIT_XP_SCALING

This mod doesn't really work..The just don't really know what to do and don't really do anything. Playing with this mod on turned the AI into weaker than cheiften and they all got destroyed by barbarians lol.

Problem solved.
The problem is that an old or new installation differ.
The file “Expansion1_Eras” is in two locations “Expansion1\Data” “AND Expansion2\Data” in a new installation and both need to be edit, changed.

Civs only have 1 Settler on Turn 0, the moment they settle their city, they still get a free settler in their city.

I also try to edit ERAS, file directly and a can control everything without the settler.
Always get on extra at higher levels.

I was looking for this because of the new TSL Mediterranean map. If the AI gets an extra settler it causes city states to get crowded out and settle in ahistorical locations. Which was triggering my OCD.

Can't wait to try it out xD
