You should make the cord a bodygroup, so the phone could be animated a little easier (Granted, it won't be realistic for the time, but there's still the option of actually having the cord for the person using it)

I didn't really see a need for making it higher resolution, it's a minor prop that wouldn't drag much attention in an Animation or Poster, adding more polygons would be unnecessary.
