Is there a guide to this I mean it doesn't seem to need one but when i use it once i "land" I can not disable the lock to take off again. I have tried disabling from the ship as well as the base but once you lock into place ship or vehicale is stuck.

Someone found a fix; Unsub, make sure the mod files are gone from \Steam\SteamApps\workshop\content\244850, then resub to the mod.

The modder is not likely to update these blocks to have longer ranges as that would either involve adding additional variants, or changing the current values. if you want a longer range version, spend a few minutes learning the very basics of XML and quickly edit and reupload it however you need it to be. It's very simple.

Thanks for this. If I could mod I'd try to do it myself, but any chance you could make a variant with a much longer range please? Really comes in handy.

This reminds me of an old cartoon I used to watch called StarCom: The US Space Force!

They had a system called "Magnalock".

How do I transfer items with this mod? Aren't connectors still not safe? If I do use both this AND connectors, do I *have* to use pistons to get the connectors to reach after mag has locked?

Hey funny thing today, When we hit Y to shut down a ship while maglocked to our base, it turns the base off too. took us a bit to figure it out. It's like being hooked to connector and hitting Y. We just make sure we have the reactors in the ship hotbar. Just an FYI

@MatrixVirus Making this mod attach right past the model would defeat the point of the mod. Its supposed to lock about a whole block away. Some updates ago, stock gear had a tendency to summon clang and destroy your ship. This is due to the gear locking while the gears hitbox is cliped threw what it locked on. Keen has made the stock gear better so they are usable again, however its still not perfect yet.

Would it be possible to make the "attach" area only slightly past the actual pad? right now it locks almost a full block away, which makes things look like they are floating.

Hey @Gorea, back in February, I asked about the missing tractor beam variant. I didn't realize that it was actually from a separate mod than the one you've updated here. @SnottyCat has linked to the mod I was originally thinking about in the post below. I second the request to update the mod with the tractor beam variant.

I appreciate your efforts on keeping those old but great mods active.

Any chance of updating PhantonX's maglock mod? (http://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=300679004&searchtext=maglock) That mod has a tractor beam variant of the maglock which has a longer locking range. There used to be an updated DX11 version of that mod, but can't find it any more.

This mod wasn't mine originally, I just fixed some of the config because I liked it and the original author stopped updating it, but I'm sure he would be pleased to see it used in builds.

I've just had a look at the orignal actually, and it hasn't been updated, but he does have a link to a GitHub repo where the sources are, meaning I might be able to adjust the models if it's still a problem (I would have to learn how to deal with the models first I think, cause I haven't done stuff like that)

If you're not sure (and you don't own the server), I guess you would need to ask the server owner. The problem with the old version I think was it wouldn't connect properly with moving grids, which is fixed by adding a single line of config to the CubeBlocks file for each block (this is all I've done actually), so if you're having problems with connecting to moving grids, it might be on the broken one still

I think they currently do have an extended range compared to regular landing gear. I've had a look at the CubeBlocks file, and it doesn't seem to specify range, meaning that it's likely in the model data. Since I don't have the original models, I don't think I can edit that.

for the maglocks can you increase the range of the blocks to at least 2x blocks infront of the pad 3x for small grids in order to make it a bit easier to tow and capture? main problem with all landing gear / maglocks is the need to get uncomfortably close to lock on to a target which is difficult to do safley and damn near impossible to do when both grids are moving since even minor bumps can cause damage or send a grid out of control. I would like to see a bit of an airgap that allows the maglocks to better serve the purpose of towing and salvage capture

WoodenIncubus - I think that's beyond the normal functions of a landing gear, so unless I were to add some scripting (which I don't want to do ATM, do to me already having a bunch of work), I don't think I can do that

brandon - I simply took the old maglocks MkII and fixed them for the latest SE, so they must have been missing from there. If you can link me to where they were orginally, I can look at adding them back it

I noticed the original Maglock Track/Hold block is missing. This is the flat round pad that has a long range and can be used as a tractor beam of sorts. Can you add this block back? It existed for both small and large grids as a 1x1x1 block, and also as a 3x3x1 block for large grids.

This is great, perfect for a large hangar ship that can't rely on other ships to use landing gears. One thing I'd really like is if it were instead more like a connector where it pulls the ship towards the center of its block before you can lock, rather than being entirely loose like a landing gear, since you only need one per ship storage really.
