hey do these tracks actually increase speed or are these just for the looks?

You cant access this assets anymore (I mixed some assets with German Catenary props from Catenary Replacer:

im a huge fan of these tracks of yours.
they provide and option to disable catenaries without additional mods!

however,
i feel like you could tone down the specularity a bit.
especially on the old tracks. if theres rust theres no reflections...

my suggestion would be to restrict the specularity not only to the rails themselves but to restrict it to the top face of the mesh. thats where theres constant wear being generated.
id remove it completely from the old tracks tbh.

Maybe you need set the speed limit by the "Traffic Manager: President Edition" mod.

they dont seem to be going any faster. Ive set the speed on some trains like the tgv and eurostar to 320km and they seem to be going the default 120-130 km

It you set the train speed limit with AVO higher.

do the trains actually go faster

Where did you get those signals at the tunnel entrance?

It seems the Catenary Replacer Mod is necessary to it.

I have downloaded "all" your Train Tracks as they are totally awesome and my Cims do really like those new and smooth Tracks!

As you said i am using your Tracks without Mods. If i do so i can only see the overhead wires and the ground texutures. The Catenary Posts are missing.

How do they work? Do they replace vanilla rail? Or Can they connect to vanilla rail? Or it is completely different network for example for inter-city trains only?
