I just upgraded the bathhouse and now the main building of it isn't showing. Just the little lean-to and tub with steps. Oh and the smoke from what would be the fireplace inside? The worker brings herbs and firewood and stands where the building would be and seems to be working but there's nothing there. I took a screenshot, but how do I share the pic?

Alex Ros - Interesting, thanks for reporting :-) I will have a closer look at the happiness gain caused bathhouse visits. There may be some wonky mathematics at play.

As long as I am subscribes Steam notified me 'new comment'. Well by the way there's one more thing. Happiness changes in the circle of original bathhouse. I mean after upgrading bathhouse the circle gets bigger and villagers withing it are relaxing, indeed. But hapinness (red mood bar in particular) only for villagers who live withing 1st circle, smaller, the one that was before upgrading

Mahoney - Oh no, your villagers are either lazy, or really worried about hygiene! They should only want to visit the bathhouse if their happiness is lowered. Did you notice people going to the bathhouse despite being happy? Sadly there is no way to change the priorities of the villagers (they will always prefer happiness activities to work if they are not happy), and also I can't directly influence the frequency of bathhouse visits (at least not without causing the game to lag), but what I can do is to introduce another happiness threshold so villagers won't go to the baths if they are reasonably happy.

It seemed to me or happy, from the constant going to the bath, people are really less productive than the sullen ones who do not go to the bath?) The idea is great , but it would be worth reducing the frequency of visits to the bath.

Alex Ros - The bathhouse worker will fetch the herbs from a nearby barn :-)
For collecting herbs, you need a herbalist hut, and the herbalist puts the herbs into storage for the bathhouse worker to use. Or you can build the herb garden from my healer mod, or buy herbs in trade and put them into storage with donkeys. Just make sure that your herbs aren't stored too far away from the bathhouse (using donkey routes if neccessary, or the storage mabagement mod)

Hi. Thanks for efforts! 1 tiny question. You wrote "The worker also collects herbs for the baths". Will the worker take herbs from your mod healers hut/garden? Or will he be collecting herbs at the forested area solely?

Damn, I'm wanting to try something different and dot a large map with small villages, rather than a big hub, have you encountered anything that mods AI to do this? Loving those long houses though, they're the reason I got the idea to do the small villages!

Stag - No, they will not. Villagers will always complete their current task (transporting, going home, working, ...) and then begin a new one (like visiting the bathhouse for example).
The exception are gatherers, herbalists, and donkey riders who will visit a kitchen or tavern during their work and will eat, and get warm if it is an indoors building like the base game tavern or the longhouse mead hall :-) This function requires the experimental mod option of the kitchen mod

If I put a bath house and a kitchen from your kitchen and cooking mod in remote locations between villages, will settlers eat and get warm using the them on long journeys?

I've tried again in two new towns. It worked perfectly in both. There must have been some mod corruption before i guess. I really like this bathhouse as it makes Herbalists useful :)

hiXhaX - Both. The 'cosmetic' happiness (in the circular area) is constant and has a value of 15 "happiness units" (compared to 10 from the unupgraded bathhouse) as well as a larger radius than the unupgraded version. The temporary buff works exactly like in the tavern, however it gives only a litlle bit of happiness (2) and an increase in working speed.
Could you do me a favour and do a little experiment in your city? Where you build a new bathhouse, then upgrade it, and monitpr if the happiness decay occurs again, and if it occurs immediatley when the upgrade is done. That would help me find out if there is something wrong with the mod :-)

How is the mechanic supposed to work? They go to the bathhouse, "consume" herbs and instantly the happines goes up, like in a tavern with alcohol? Or is it a flat bonus for living in the aoe of the bathhouse and going there is entirely cosmetic?

hiXhaX - So, I did an experiment: On a new map I built two identical small settlements with a only a bathhouse each. All citizens are unemployes so the profession doesn't influence the happiness.
For one thing, you are correct: If there is nothing else to incfluence the happiness, the hapiness bar is slightly over half full, and with a single bathhouse it goes up to full.

Now what I did is I upgraded the bathhous in one settlement, but not in the other, and found that the citizens in the village with the upgraded bathhouse are still 100% happy (actually, it would be even a bit higher, but the bar only shows a certain max value).

My conclusion is that other factors bring happiness down.
I don't know for sure what counts towards unhappiness - the things that are certain are: deaths, and working in certain professions/buildings. Things that are likely to decrease happiness are sickness, and having not clothes/tools. Unsure about catastrophies, raids, and malnourishment.

hiXhaX Full happiness just with one bathhouse, if there is nothing else that makes citizens happy (like other happiness buildings, living in the best houses, having easy jobs like teachers, constant new baby bliss) is surprising, to be honest. It should take a lot more than that. Are you by any chance using a mod that increases the happiness from the normal bathhouse?

Hey ho! The standard bathhouse works perfectly for me. All ppl in the area become 100% happy. As soon as i upgrade it and let someone work there, the happiness vanishes. Even ppl who visit the place and consume herbs don't become happy. I like the idea very much thogh. Any suggestions what could be going wrong in my game?

MEGADORI, you are amazing. I haven\t played FV for a while because my old PC couldn\t handle it but with the new gaming PC I am back playing. I didn\t [ay much attention to the bathhouse but upgraded it. Was checking on my hunter since he is mainly there to keep the animals out of the village. Lo and behold where did I find him? Yep, in the bathhouse relaxing. I went into shock. Next thing we will get is church going villagers or have you done that already? UPDATE:

Villagers will now visit the upgraded bathhouse to relax in a nice herbal bath (cunsumes herbs). Afterwards, they will be happier and slightly better at work for a while.

I am using no such mod, but what I am using is a mod that allows me to convert logs directly into charcoal so I haven't been producing any firewood at all.

If it needs firewood, that explains the problem.

white_knight_leo - Are some firewood supplies available in a barn near somewhere near your bathhouse? And a well, too. There is a certain maximum range that workers are prepared to go for getting supplies.
Are you using a mod that makes firewood be stored in warehouses instead of barns?

I built the bathhouse and upgraded it, and I've got a worker on it - but it always shows the icon for lacking supplies. What's wrong with it?

Urara-tan, no it doesn't, it makes the official bathhouse able to be upgraded. The upgraded bathhouse then has the service worker.

Update: While not always perfect, the update process should now not cause sunken bathhouses any more. Try not to build next to a steep decline. I also changed the maximum building ground steepness for the original bathhouse, so newly built ones should have a good chance to look nice upon upgrading.

Upgrade option for the bathhouse
More realistic bathhouse with increased effect

It bothered me that the bathhouse is basically just a deco building, so I made it functional.
Bath water doesn't heat or change itself, so a bathhouse needs an attendant (who would also serve you some wine while you enjoy your nice hot clean bath)
To make up for the need of a worker and the costs keep up the service (water and firewood), the service will double the area of effect and significantly increase the happiness.

Vanilla bathhouse: radius 30, happiness 10
Modded bathhouse: radius 60, happiness 15

A bathhouse needs to be upgraded from a normal bathhouse for the service to be available!
You can have vanilla bathhouses and upgraded bathhouses in the same village.
