I've chatted with Biffa that once, and he's a top guy. Never met $2 but he seems a great fella.
Glad you like Merrickstowe. This is really old for me... very much 2017 standards LOL. I should really come back and do an upgrade... perhaps that should be a big challenge of 2021.
Sounds more like you have a mod problem than a map problem. I've reviewed over a thousand maps on my YouTube Channel now, and with the rare exception of tiny island maps which have just one tile of land, you always have extra tiles to buy into.
I'd suggest starting a new map clean, with no mods at all, just to verify this is a weird mod issue. If it continues then I can only think of verifying your files, or even a full reinstall of the game. Something isn't right.
Not at my gaming PC right now, so this is from memory and might not be 100%
It sounds like you are getting to the point where you have 'beaten the game' and can move on to playing a more sandbox game. So for the statues go to Content Manager, Mods, Unlock All (or something similar, its a vanilla mod), and you'll no longer be restricted by in game targets.
The elevated train track I'm pretty sure is a network, so you can change this by simply upgrading the rail in the same way you would a road. Find the rail network you prefer, select the "!" from the tool bar, and click the segents you want to change.
Hope this helps
Sorry for posting here, but I don't twitter/facebook any other such social media. I have been loving your what map series and map fixes, and I came up with 2 suggestions for for map fix, the Map Review 847 - Augustine Lake when I tried the map a few days ago, "Elevated Train Track Over Wall - Part 2 (Deprecated)", how would a newbie like me update the map to to the newer vesion of the track over wall pack? The other for perhaps your intermission, I found a few statues that were recently posted, but they require the CIM's health to be below 20% to purchase, how would someone edit those parameters either to remove them or ease them?
I'm trying to remember, there was a mod recently which stopped zoning, but it has slipped my mind which. But then as you say, if this isn't happening on other maps that is weird indeed.
Can you do me a favour, and reload the map with all mods switched off (except Network Extensions 2). If the map runs fine then there is a bizarre mod conflict. If that happens to be the case, please share your list of mods and I'll do some tests and try to find (and fix) the problem for you.
There's no need to, I built this map with weaker machines in mind. The generic tree pack is actually much more effecient than the vanilla trees (the most intensive tree has half the tris of the top vanilla tree, and this scales down. So here's what to do:
Unsub to everything except the generic tree pack. The theme is only 51mb, but if this is too much switch to another. Now launch the game.
You will only be missing the weeds on the disused rail (which you'd probably delete anyway), the Cypress trees are only used for detailing Clanborough Court out in the fog, so you wouldn't miss them, and the Juniper bush is only used for decorating the farm; again, not really essential.
So run with just the generic tree pack, your map will look good AND run better than in vanilla :-)
Let me quickly say why I stopped at two. The two obvious rail routes into the maps are down in that corner area. Trains like flat terrain, so cutting down through the hills seemed counter intuitive. The flatest route followed the highway, but a rail route along here didn't fit with my vision of how the area evolved (see the long story in the description). The only other possible connection was across the firth, at the location bridge. But I didn't want to use custom bridges in this map, and the vanilla bridge just didn't look right.
You can add your own extra connections. I think the mod is by BloodyPenguin.
As for traffic, I'd start by building a bypass from the River Pann overpass down to main 4 road intersection. Retrospectively for me, this was my biggest mistake on this map. All the traffic has to use the highway running through the start square. Maybe this is the fix you need instead?
PS I'd love to see screen shots of the city.
@trist14222 - that is odd, but at least you got it working :-)
When you install a mod for the game from the workshop, you additionally need to enable it from the game menu "Content Manager". By default mods install in a turned off state.
I was getting this error, too, because I've never installed a mod before for the game. I put a lot of faith in BonBonB to give in and try it out but had the frustrations of thinking my game broke because I didn't know about how to turn the mods on in the game.
"Object reference not set to an instance of an object [System.NullReferenceException]

having the same problem with some custom maps but not others
Do you use the Loading Screen Mod? That should highlight the issue.
@Maine's Own - hahaha, I didn't think of it as advertising. People asked if I were ever going to make a map, and would have wanted to see it. Rather than be pre-judged, I hid it in a review, and let the viewer make up their own mind. But thanks for subbing and hope it lives up to expectations :-)
@AYM3M - Thanks, there was a lot of planning involved. It won't suit everyone, and yes, it's my first map so I will have made mistakes. But overall I'm personally very happy with it, and am glad you agree :-)
btw: i have RICO and it's working fine with the map i have no issues.
I downloaded your map --- yes: it is good, and it lovely to build on.
If you don't have Rico, or this doesn't solve the problem, write your list of mods in the comments below and I'll see if I can work out the error for you.
@Ravencroft - If its the national road running through the valley in the forest, I know. It's actually not broke, but I'd already used the maximum of four outside connections, and couldn't get the mod that allows more to work. I ran this road to the perimeter to give the impression of a through road. The valley needed something to tie it into the rest of the map, and a scenic drive made sense. But having the road as a dead end felt odd so I ran it off the map. So in short: Road=not broken, My Brain=Failing. Hope you enjoy the map, and feel free to turn that road into an outside connection if you wish :-)
