Again, sry mate.
...if I go back to level-making :)
That sounds like you're not that likely to come back anytime soon... ?
Oh, I've just noticed now that you've updated the description.
- I have also stopped playing OG like a madman.. I used too do this.. (When I do its only short coop games)
Okay...
About the description that saids this map is so "gruesome" - I had to make it so, since a few people got very hurt in a specific place and started to feel offended and I did not want to read their comments anymore = the description from south park :)
It also worked and stopped their comments and now I mostly get good feedback like yours instead :)
There were just 4 dialogues (not including the start dialogue):
-rat father
-sitting rabbit
-monk
-wounded monk
I'd really like to see more.
I've noticed that the sitting rabbit one had an issue where the wrong character would speak.
There were only two particularly brutal dialogues, the one with the sitting rabbit and the one with the wounded monk. I don't think it's too much, but it's unusual nonetheless.
About the checkpoints, are you gonna add them anytime soon?
Anyways, keep it up. :)
If you haven't already, consider joining the wolfire discord: https://discordapp .com/invite/wCntgVQ -- seperated with space so steam doesn't remove it.
YOU people are the reason I made this :) so thank you
Some people actually got really offended by the mod, so I used it to make sure people could not bitch about there but.t-hurt feelings afterwards ;) Hope you enjoyed the level
And I will make more at some point, since you and many others have given me such great feedback :) I am very happy that you enjoyed it and thank you for telling me!
"I swear I thought the map was done after I got to the top of the first tree. then when I got to the first monk temple. it just kept going and I kept going with it"
The Npcs made it very interesting especially because the darker storyline was unexpected and fit so nicely. Seriously nice job
It is people like you, that makes me wanna make more content ;)
My plan was to make a lot more depth to the dialogue and make more encounters, but people got big time offended and I found it a waste of my time to defend content of the level.
The dialogue for now is just WIP and is therefor a litlle "meh", but since not many people seemed to enjoy it, I stopped working on it for now.
"The following level contains harsh and immature language and due to its content it should not be played by anyone." - I think that covers it...
I just made a level that I think is entertaining, if people dont like it then they can always unsubscribe, not that much more to it?
If they take damage from what I have shown them, then good luck - they will need it.
I'm just saying it's in poor taste. It doesn't really fit an Overgrowth mod, let alone any video game with an excuse plot. Personally I don't entirely care too much, but it's just something you have to consider. The randomly inserted edge doesn't do anything but subtract from the level.
Again, I personally really don't care all that much. I'm just explaining why it's a problem with the story.
And I dont find any of the content sexual (yet) and I am not responsible for what people watch you play, you are.
Its less about getting offended and more about knowing 'hey there is some content that will be really akward to explain if someone walks in on me while I'm playing this"
So hopefully it will be constructive feedback like yours from now on :)
WARNING: PLAY AT OWN RISK - READ THIS BEFORE SUBSCRIBING
The following level contains harsh and immature language and due to its content it should not be played by anyone.
The entire level is a work in progress, so the dialogue will get better as I get better at handling the "dialogue system" and it will also have more depth in the future.
I will check out your link later, to see if I can improve the checkpoint system :)
Thank you for helping :)
Other than that, there's a much better way of implementing checkpoints, and that's with overgrowth_level; http://wiki.wolfire.com/index.php/Checkpoints
I think you have a lot to learn about the world and what has happent in it before you start getting disgusted over my mod in a small niche game.
beside there is this thing called a description, first line says:
"WARNING: Harsh stories that may offend some people (more will come, but some are already added to level)"
Good luck to you
Put better labels on this.
4) I have thought of it ;) I would like to make the rabbit attack you if you attack her prisoner, but I cannot make this work yet..
5) hehe, I would love to have flying enemies at some point!! ;) But for now the AI cannot use this..
To answer your last question - No it has nothing to do with the mod, this is a bug that I too get in all other maps and it is annoying as f*.. (And even more when on a thin branch!)
3) Cool, glad to help :)
4) If anything comes to mind i'll let you know...although there is one thing i thought now. The first time i pushed the wolf off the tree xD Maybe there should be a reaction/dialog?
5) Many thx :D
Tbh it didn't matter to me personally cause i cheated with flying mod each time i failed in an "unfair" manner, but i think other will apreciate it.
A question btw...i'm sure it's not related to the mod, but do you know why the camera flicks sometimes? There were cases where it simply changed w/o me moving the mouse (you can imagine how this sucks when you're running along a thin branch...)
3) The reason this did not work is coz you need to have entered "editor mode" before it can work.. I did not know this since I always used the editor anyway ;) I have now fixed the dialogue in the beginning to match this requieremt, without breaking the immersivness ;) Thank you very much for pointing out that hole for me :)
5) 2 more checkpoints have been added + I replaced some to make sure that you get to them, instead of risking to walk past it :)
(I think there is 3, beside the ones with stories)
3) and did this not work?? could be that have changed something so it actually "restarts" the level completely.. I will look into it! :)
4) if you have any wishes or ideas I would always be glad to do somthing in that direction, the map is made for you/others to enjoy anyway ;)
5) I will see if there should be a checkpoint or 2 more before the end, to make it a bit more forgiving ;)
And I can assure that I have not copied anything on purpose, and surely not from Thief, coz I have never tried it ;)
I am very happy that you like the mod :)
2) Huh, strange...guess he must have fell on something and climbed back up
3) I pressed the retry/restart button after i died (that circular arrow) and ran towards the respawn sign...did i miss a step?
4) Nice >:D
5) Fair enough, i imagines you wanted it to be hard af...but then consider adding more checkpoint? :P
This is one of my fav mods...mixes good platforming with the right amount of combat, and interesting story (tho i might be biased cause this reminded me of the Thief game, which i love)
- I have already thought of changing the "egg" to something pickable ;) I will look into ths soon ;)
- Enemies should die when they fall, but if you press the "x/heal" all enemies that have died will enter your nearest checkpoint.. I have no ide why they do this ;)
- How did you use the respawn sign? If I fall from almost top of the tree and died on a branch ---> then I can press restart level in the "death menu" and afterwards I will go to sign and I will pop up at my latest checkpoint :) Also this only works within the same "try" and will be restarted if you leave the level.
- Cat will get stories, horrible, dark, morbid stuff ;)
- The end I would like to keep slippery as f* :) but still for your sake, I will look to see if there should be anything that needs changes :)
Thank you for the feedback mate, it really means a lot that you enjoyed the level ;)
