Default metro station is 10 units long, workshop metro stations are bit longer than that due to the metro overhaul.
6 car unit fits in exaclty, as I tested it with Bad Peanut's stations that come with Metro Overhaul mod.
3 and 6 units variants should be enough to create a network, since they carry 400 and 800 people respectively.
Edit: 8th screenshot you see in 6 car MOM variant is taken with default MOM station and 6 car unit, as you can see it fits well and there's even a margin on edges.
I understand it might require properly sized platforms because of length, any other reason it would go bad?
MOM ones are metro trains that are to be used with MOM mod, and Train variants are usual trains that don't require any mod to be activated or used. In order to regulate their spawns, use IPT to assign specific models for specific lines and AVO to disable default ugly trains.
Welcome to the new chapter of transportation BTW, 2K hours without custom trains is.. erh... should've been though for me. I tolerated default monorails for couple of hours then released monorail assets lol
External lines: a. Game assigns sit randomly b. You can also limit trains that are spawning by using Advanced Vehicle Options.
