Found it. Don't know why, but the SWR Hidden Potential WOTC mod was resetting the faction soldiers' squaddie perks.

If they are only missing one perk in the column its probably not this mod. This mods defect would cause the entire column to be incorrect and would also shuffle all perks to the right. Since i have no other reports, you probably have an insidious mod conflict.

I believe I have found a bug with the faction heros builds. I have a Skimisher with no grapple, a Reaper with no Shadow perk, and a Templar with no Rend perk, yet they all have higher rank perks which are dependent on those perks. I have checked my mods and this is the only one which shuffles the perks.

Syntax issue, use Notepad++ to make edits. Restore the original file then put your changes with notepad plus plus. All i can say.

I have only one mod that changes grapple, and it's the DLC2 Configurable Abilities. But it does -not- reference the Skirmisher grapple, only the regular one and the viper suit one.

Mod contains nothing that changes abilities, its 99% only reshuffled perks except for Bloodtrail.

Did this mod change the Skirmisher Grapple to cost 1 action? That seems like a really big nerf, especially if the Spider Suit Grapple remains a free action. Combined with moving Marauder farther down the tree, this mod seems to almost fundamentally change the Skirmisher's aggressive, mobile playstyle.

@Charmed Suppression on first tree, Chain Shot on second. Note that Chain Shot costs 25, not the regular cost.

I added ZeroIn and Throttle to the random AWC perks the Skirmisher can get.

I think that the skirmisher if played well with these settings has the power to become as powerful as the templar's overpoweredness. I'm kind of scared. Shot, shot, shot, chainshot. Ouch.

I think both of those work. Chain shot combos nicely with zero in and marauder both. Another perk I'd like for them is +1 ammo, perhaps tied to total combat, but that's because i use reload ends turn.

@Charmed I can give them Suppression, that sounds reasonable in the Hussar 1st slot? Maybe Chain Shot somewhere?

If i put it as a baseline class ability theres 1 missing ability in the first column. Youd have to suggest a replacement.

If we keep it as is, we can add a perk in the Hussar position to make the first column an actual choice?

Sorry, I've got nothing aside from perhaps merging zero in into marauder and reshuffling accordingly. That or making zero in baseline or the normal version that allows a bonus on the next turn.

Yeah but i wanted to put Marauder higher up and Zero In cant go even higher up because its not as good. Either it gets integrated in the base class completely or its replaced with something else that provides something similar. What do you propose?

@ADVENT Avenger is it intentional that for skirmishers, Zero In is placed before Marauder? It's nearly useless without it.

This mod should work with a mod that adds new classes and removes the old ones so that I get the changes of this mod only for the faction heroes, right?

If you want to add a talent in a free space just make an extra line for it, its that simple.

Open this mod's INI file and start perousing, youll get the hang of it. It's the simplest mod you can make, INI files are a great way to start.

If you don't mind answering some stupid questions; I'd like to make all the classes have 3 class lines plus the XCOM line but I haven't the first clue how to mod outside of very simple .ini changes. So how hard would this be?

I downloaded ModBuddy but I haven't figured out how to look at/open a mod in it yet. And none of the tutorials I've found thus far start at the "I'm an idiot" very beginning.

The ini files I can use. Unfornutatly, that disables the daily challenge. The advantage of a mod is that it can be flipped on and off in the loading screen.
Look, I'm not trying to drive you nuts. I asked becouse your a modder who knows what he's doing, and this seems like the sort of files you like playing with. If you can, Id appreciate it. If not, then thank you for your time, and all the best :)

@Green Raven It conflicts with ShadowStep.

Take my mod and go modify Shadowstep in the Ranger tree and put LightningReflexes instead.

In the class exclusions, change LightningReflexes to Shadowstep so they dont get it from the AWC perks.

@Charmed Even with the LW changes Covering Fire is still a bad idea. It would need to be retooled.

@ADVENT Avenger Looks good to me. For a suggestion about covering fire, as I recall, in the ucross LW rebalance, ucross gave covering fire ~+20 aim versus targets in cover to make it better. Might be enough to make it competitive, or at least less crap.
