I think its a great effect, but I personally would like it better if the dilation/contraction of the black hole was slowed down a small bit. The outer ring could also be a bit slower to match the black hole, but other than that, great unusual.

If I could make a suggestion, make it so that the light around the singularity is "warped" inwards like a true black hole and it would look less like a "black star".
