I know it's been literal months since my comment hahaha but I figured out the conflict! Now we just need a 'Reload All' button added to the Soldier options during missions. It would save time when enemies aren't around.

Does this mod have any conflicts? Im using the alternate mod launcher and I see no conflicts, but in game a reload does not end my turn. I would like the little bit of extra difficulty, and I have a really long list of mods, so I really want to avoid going through every single one if I can. Is there an INI file I can edit to make the reload turn ending myself? Thanks for any help.

This is a great mod but just found out the hard way that it makes the bolt caster really bad.
1 attack per 2 turns is super harsh.

OK, this is a GREAT idea. I was searching originaly a way to remove this absurd effect 1kill/1action on the losts, but this is far better ! Thank you very much !

@Charmed Great mod. Is there any possibility to exclude some weapons like Bolt caster, because you have to reload every turn with it because it has ONLY one ammo. Thank you.

A cool idea could be a mix of the reload systems, reloading with the first action and firing with the second imposes hit and crit chance penalties since the soldier doesn't have as much time to line up the shot. Say -30% hit and -30% crit reloading penalties.

Well, I`m searching for a "reload do not end turn mod" for enemy within! Because it's way better as it is in Xcom 2.

While I don't think I'll pick it up at the moment, I might get it in the future, knowing how often I reload, to discourage that mentality. Ofc, having a loaded gun is always good, but for the sake of balancing it out may be interesting.

XCOM EU/EW also had significantly larger magazine capcity for all weapons (either by default or after a foundry project. Weapon add-ons are not an adequate solution because you cannot buy/build them at will and can only put 2 or 3 mods on a weapon. Think about increasing base ammo ammounts, or adding research or foundry projects to do so. Also consider making Snipers (who can't reload and fire their rifle on the same turn anyway) and Skirmishers (whose defining feature is being able to perform two attack actions in one turn) exempt. As for the bolt caster, you could give it a special reload action, or a special load-and-fire-in-one-turn action (and an equivalent load-and-overwatch action) that costs 2 actions.

@Galgus Overlooked that since I don't use that DLC, thanks. Gave it +1 crit, +10 crit chance, and +15 stun chance. Possibly too far but I'm not sure.

I think the Bolt Caster may need some kind of compensation buff with this given how crucial reload -> shoot is to it.

A trained person can reload a weapon with a fresh magazine in less than 2 seconds. I never understood why anyone wanted their elite team of alien hunters to reload their weapons like armless children in a beginners seminar. Might be fun when playing on Ironman, though.

This seems to be an excellent gameplay mechanic when fighting the Lost. No more blasting through 8 Lost in a single turn! =O

Oh, good idea @K.Constantine ; lock and load would make a fitting XCOM perk with this mod. Might take a bit to get that done, working on other things.

We need a perk or Guerrilla Tactics school thing to make it act like it did before. I think Long War 1 had a perk for Infantry that made reloading only cost 1 action as well.

this is what i've always wanted, thank you charmed.

it always felt strange to me that by nature if the player forgot to reload before shooting, they were strictly missing out on an action. I think that it was made to be a single AP only because of the introduction of timers, but it was never felt like an interesting or meaningful decision to reload; you just did whenever you had the opportunity to shoot on first action.
