If you made the carbine version for (my best guess for it, open to others) the ac-556 I would finally have a skin for it that I like.

@VeissLie_ yup you can also do that. Its really a matter of personal preference unless the owners manual specifically says don't to this or that. Some people prefer to use the slide release on pistols, others prefer the slingshot/powerstroke. A good example is how to reload a bolt action. Some people like to pull the bolt back on the last round ejecting the shell, drop the mag or reload the internal, and push the bolt back to rechamber, others like to drop mag before ejecting the empty shell and doing the full re-chamber (bolt back ejecting, bolt forward rechamber), you have the guy who ejects, closes bolt, drops mag and rechambers or the close bolt, reopen the bolt again and drop mag. The whole bolt-action thing I just mentioned is dependant on user but most importantly weather the bolty has an external/detachable or an internal mag.

@Tough Puppy, now in the case of the Evo 3 (not to be confused with the with the Lancer Evo 3 XD for the car guys), it also doesn't have a reciprocating charging handle so when it shoots, the charging handle doesn't go back and forth like an AK would. The cool thing about the Evo 3 is like the UMP, you can do the HK reload which is pulling the bolt back, pushing up to lock it in place, and doing the famous HK slap OR you just let the bolt lock back on its own and you press the release. Keep in mind, the bolt-catch mechanism is not limited to just the AR platform or the mentioned HK UMP or CZ Evo. Nowadays plenty of modern rifles that aren't AR styled use similar systems, just located differently. If you have more questions on...well anything guns really, you can comment on my profile or msg or whatever so I don't have to write paragraphs :P

@Tough Puppy, so the M16/M4/Mk18 or simply the AR-15 platform in general they don't have a reciprocating charging handle so obviously when it fires, it doesn't smack you in the face. When the last round is ejected, the bolt gets locked automatically (unless the gun is broken or you fired without a magazine or blah blah blah), on a pistol, the magazine follower (the platform plate thing you push the bullets onto) pushes up on the slide release, same idea on the AR-15 platforms, the magazine follower goes up, pushes on a latch connected to the release/lock, BCG gets locked back. When you insert a new mag, the follower isn't making contact with the release because its at the bottom of the mag or mid-way because bullets are inside the magazine. So in that case, you CAN pull the charging handle back and it'll release the bolt, press the bolt release like usual, or use the forward assist.

It's similar to the M4 and M16, yeah. You'll see that their charging handles can still remain in the initial position despite pushing the bolt release. I don't know how the Scorpion works, but it probably does the same thing.

The thing is that the bolt isn't pushed forward. The charging handle is independant of the bolt. That's at least how I understand it on AR-15s.

@Rymd and @Buckethead Thankyou, yes I've seen him hit the bolt release. Could someone explain what this does? If the bolt is already pushed forward, how can another round be loaded into the chamber? And is this method of pushing the bolt release the same with M4 and M16 rifles?
