It’s impossible for the mod to work now guys as Firaxis cannot code this into civ6. The code for this mod is also in BBS. It can force one team to one side but not guarantee that one player will be pushed across water and isolated by another team. This is a firaxis issue with Civ Vi and they aren’t willing to fix it.

Is there any way to make this work in multiplayer local hotseat mode? I ran the game with rise and fall + gathering storm and only this mod installed. We still get spawned on opposite sides of normal maps.

I was stupid as I didn't disable YnAMP even though it was clearly stated in description it isn't compatible. It works for me!

in a 2v2 mirror match ive had each person literally 4 tiles from the wrong team member on spawn and extremely far from the same team member

In 2v2v2v2 multiplayer some teams spawned apart.

In multiplayer 3v3v3 we found that some teams spawned together and some had 2 together, 1 apart.

@AOM - I do not know whether anyone else had any issues with this mod not working under Linux so far, but when I tried to start a game using the mod I experienced a CTD in the initial loading screen. The culprit seems to be the game looking for the .lua script file with an incorrect name (all lowercase IIRC), thus failing due to file names being case sensitive and the Pascal case file not being found.
I changed the referenced name in the xml file as well as the file names of the lua script files to lowercase, and everything worked beautifully.
I am not sure what file naming looks like in the windows version of the game, but Linux users might have to rename some stuff so it fits the naming scheme used for this version, which has every file named in all lowercase.

I Just added it to my game. I play with one friend hotseated and it work as discribed. I haven't tried online but the mod works great.

Hi Donavan, please note in the description of the mod, and in the notes, we stated that this mod works for teams of two. It is less likely to work with a team of three, and probably will not work with teams larger than that.

We are surprised to hear that the mod is not working for people. We are fully updated and the mod still works well for us. We'll look into the issue.

@AOM - The June 2016 patch had some improvements in the city state clutter, but it seems to be in the same script that you override in this mod, so for a while, we must choose between team proximity or city state clutter. :/

@AOM - Any chance you can create a mod like Distant Multiplayer Start or StartPositionAdjustment? Or update your mod to include that functionality? Those mods haven't been updated, and don't seem to work any more. Playing large maps with 2 human players and a bunch of AI, we humans often start right next to each other with either these mods enabled.

If you're willing to take this on. Any chance of making it so City State don't clump together as they currently do?

This is updated for GS now. Updating the mod to the GS patch version number did make it function, but it placed Kupe on the land. We updated the script to be compatible with the GS version that includes water civ placements, but if you play a team as Kupe, he may have to sail far to get to his teammates.

I have the gold edition of Civ IV. When I went to enable the mod, it complained that this mod is not compatible. I'm assuming it's just a version issue, but can someone confirm that this works with the gold edition.

This appears to still be compatible with GS but I haven't tested it enough to know if it breaks anything. The start locations appear to be consistent with what the mod produced in R&F so at least that part is working ;)

I have, doesn't seem to work. I do run other mods so might have been a conflict, didn't test much. Just restarted manually too many times to count, ie. the old fashioned way of getting a good team start lol.

Wanted to see if there was a way/mod to be close to another human player but not have to be on a "team" with them. Since teams make it too easy.

Hi Stanley Roberts, the YnAMP mod overrides the same file that this mod overrides, so they are not compatible. We have updated the description now to mention this incompatibility.

Tried with 2 humans on 1 team after most recent update. (First time using this mod) Did not place us near eachother. Also using CQUI and Y(n)aMP. Might have something to do with the non-standard size selected (Enormous 2:1) or the 4 "unsupported" ai's added to max out the multiplayer.

Will try playing around with settings and mods.

Thanks. So far I've had no problems with teams of 3. Tried it with teams of four on continents and had one guy end up on other continent with three AI lol.

@LasTeaR, we tested it with AI teams of three (since there are only two of us, we could not test it with human teams of three). With AI teams of three, it did work, although sometimes one of the three would be a bit further away than the other two.

Hi @Cosmic Fox, you need to set up a multiplayer game (which you can do even if you're the only human). Select Multiplayer and then Local Network. This will allow you to generate a game with AIs. You can set them up in teams together and with you.

How in the world do you setup teams with AI in single player? Would I start an MP game or something first.. a bit confusing since I dont see anything about teams... :^D
