for a more accurate civil war fort, google FT Jefferson in Florida. By the time of the civil war, most forts relied mostly on their cannon and mortars not on muskets. Where muskets were used they were primarily in trenches. It was very rare to find a fort of this kind without being surrounded by cannon emplacements.
