while the crossbow looks a lot better than most other crosbow mods out there the exception being the dragon bone crossbow cause frankly its just cool to kill a dragon with dragon bone bolts shot from a mini dragon skull's mouth. this is a good addition to any hunter/ crossbow fan. the plus side is that it has a nice texture and over all feel (the whole blades color scheme makes it look very cool due to the dull blue apperance) the down side is you can smith/ upgrade it so while its base damage is high it takes a few shots to kill if you play on the hardest setting. over all a solid 9 out of 10 if the upgrading/ smithing issue were addressed it would be in the top 10 of weapon mods as it stand its a well earned : get it if a fan of good weapons

make an akaviri bow next

also there were crossbows in morrowind

It would be much more useful if it did bonus damage to dragons.

Actually the Dwemer were the first to invent crossbows but I can see the Akaviri making them too.

I love this mod it really adds to using a blades character, but I prefer bows to crossbows so is it possible to add a akaviri bow based on a samurai long bow?

I get dawnguard, and all pack, how much demage it does?

@razorwirejordan99- Ill give you the same answer I give everybody who asks that question; crossbows were created in dawnguard, so they can only be made for dawnguard (otherwise bathesda would have it removed from whatever site it is on). So if you want crossbows just buy dawnguard, its only $20 on steam, if you wont pay that you clearly don't want crossbows that badly.

1. nexus is way better than the workshop.
2. it is stealing, and I dont give a crap how long you've been modding.
3. If you are not given direct permission to use a mod you cant use it, no matter how long its been "abandoned". it is still another modder's work.
4. I was just being nice and letting you use the mod, even thought the one mod you have made is certanly nothing spectacular. if you keep claiming that its alright to steal another modder's work I will take away that permission.

@itsJustThomas- if no permission are listed that doesn't make a mod fair game. if you took it without permission then you are stealing somone else's hard work. (which could easily get you banned from the nexus)

@itsJustThomas- Umm, Im fine with you using it (as long as you give credit) but you may not want to make assuptions like that, you could really make some people angry that way. just some advice.

kungfu18- this is tamrial not earth or japan (i forgot is it is a planet or not) so i think it would of been very different. espeical if the player and NPCs are leveled.

I have a suggestion, can you make the crossbow upgradable with steel/iron ingots (or any other ingots lol)? That would be awesome if you added this in

Firearms in the form of arquebus gave the Ashigaru a weapon that they can become familiar in it usage with a decent degree of skill in days if not hours, that was capable of penetrate all but the thickest armour of the samurai at range, plus the smoke and loud noise were a fear factor. Matchlock gunners quickly became major part of many Damyio's armies.

Previously they were armed with bows that were simpler to make than the Composite bows of the Samurai but, the Ashigaru bow's were inferior to the Samurai's bow, meaning Ashigaru were-out matched in ranged combat (Skill made the gap even bigger. Ashigaru archers were trained to fire in mass volleys, while the Samurai because they had been training for their entire lives, they were superb marksmen able to accurately hit targets over 200 yards). Also the Ashigaru bows did not always had the power to penetrate the samurai's armour, which meant the Samurai were usually often able to close with Ashigaru archers and decimate the peasants in hand to hand fighting.

Large scale organised warfare in Feudal Japan occurred in a short but spectacular period of Japanese history known as the Sengoku Jidai, where massive armies of samurai and ashigaru would ravage the landscape in very bloody battles for their Damiyos (Warlords). Since the nature of warfare in Japan had changed there was a need for the Peasant Ashigaru to be armed with weapons that were very easy to train with.

Techincally I think all the different races from Akavir are largely based on the Japanese who used asymmetrical composite bows. Crossbows were first used on a wide scale in China but for some reason never took off in Japan. At first the Japanese fought battles as personal duels between very highly skilled warriors (who would eventually become known as the Samurai), which as a result crossbows never became popular as it allow peasants who only had a few hours of practice with the weapon, to easily kill a Samurai who would have spent a lifetime of training with multiple weapons, and no doubt the Samurai would pressured the Damiyos and the Shogun to outlaw Crossbows.

This can't be upgraded at the grindstone?? I love this mod, but it's useless when i can get a crossbow that's much more powerful through the grindstone...
(also a retexture of the bolts for Akaviri bolts would be great xD )

@Grand Duke Fionn-Well, considering that this is a game, and that it has its own lore separate form our history, I think that it’s fair to assume that they may have created crossbows. Also they very easily could have copied the dwemer design. And furthermore the Japanese were very militarily advanced, so it’s not imposable that they could have created them, it the Chinese had not gotten there first.

I forgot that I installed this mod, and when I found the crossbow in the Akaviri temple, I thought that it belongs there! Wonderful implementation. plus, I really wanted a new crossbow, so I got it at the perfect time, and it's not overpowered!
