An original idea, amazing art, a kickin soundtrack and unique gameplay. I came to the workshop expectin another incomplete glitchy mess but instead I am blessed to come across this amazing gem!
This game is so good! Way to raise the bar 3000%!

Having played some more it does seem quite unforgiving with the time-windows you have to jump. Sometimes it's not clear if you're jumping when you shouldn't or just not timing your jump precisely enough. Also the disappearing ice-blocks should look a bit more distinctive - I didn't notice they were different till my third play.
The one time I really noticed was level 2 of world 3. After you step on the red switch and fall to the ground, the round elf-like thing rolls into you before you can jump over it, unless you jump before it appears. (At least with my reactions). I'll let you know if I spot any more.

One rather drastic solution would be to switch to widescreen by increasing the view width or decreasing its height. Obviously that's a big change to make at this stage but you will have to do that anyway if you ever want to port to android or ios.

amazing man!!

@TheFinalDuck
Thank you very much, I really appreciate your in-depth comment.
We've really tried to make it so that it should be beatable without having to know what comes up in advance, but maybe there are still some single instances left we'd need to improve on in this area. If you could direct us to some direct examples that would be a great help, because we agree, it should be possible to complete without dying/having to know what comes up before it does.

I've also thought about your comment on the rainbow myself, so yes, we'll be looking into that.

Thanks! I'm glad you liked it! :)
A very creative game, I like it =)

Reminds me a lot of the last level of braid, which I daresay was part of the inspiration.

I found the fixed jump height a bit annoying at first but after a bit of playing I realised timing your jumps right is part of the challenge. Other than that there are a few moments where it's either impossible or nearly impossible to complete a level first time without knowing what's coming up. That might have been a design choice but it's a tad cruel to the player - even Limbo is (theoretically) possible to play through the first time without dying.

Also I'd smooth the edges of the rainbow made by the pink boss at the start, it doesn't really fit the aesthetic of the rest of the game.

@PogueSquadron
Thank you, appreciate your comments! Where did you find it rough around the edges? We'd love any feedback on what we should improve! :)

In regards to the spike-question, I guess it's a matter of how you perceive it. But, at the end of the day, it becomes a question of finding a balance between staying true to the concept, but while also make the game entertaining. In this regard, the difficulty curve also doesn't make sense - it goes from easy to hard, where it should traditionally be reversed, but this would not make for very compelling game design or experience in practice, so we chose to do it in a manner that serves the overall quality of the game the best. With unorthodox concepts like this, finding the balance between concept and compelling gameplay can be a challenge, and it certainly was in this case. :)
Here's my only question right now. When you see a body on the spikes (meaning that your character died on his playthrough of the game)....how exactly does that work? If this was say, a Mario game, and we watched a playthrough in reverse, wouldn't Mario not die? And if he did die, wouldn't he start at the beginning of his level (or in your case...wouldn't you actually make progress?) Just something to chew on I guess, haha. Lots of things you could exploit here (and like any time travel game/movie, it's best not to think about things too much haha). I love any concept like this that turns things on their heads. I definitely have my ideas regarding jRPGs.
What a great concept!I think it's a little rough around the edges but I can't wait to see you progress with this. Er...I mean, I can't wait til you...finish...un-making the game? I can't wait to...start? It? :-p
@VonZippenstein
Perfectly understandable! Forgetting to remove it was totally a mistake from my side.
Thank you very much, I'm glad you liked it!

To all: new version is up. The Steam issue should be fixed *very* soon now, but until then, enjoy this latest version. It does a great number of things MUCH better. Please re-download and try it out!
I see! I was missing the concept because the spacebar is my default jump key and the instantly completed levels made me genuinely believe it was a bug. Now I feel like an idiot. Just replayed it. It's a great game. Love the music.
@VonZippenstein

The spacebar thing was something I included to be able to skip levels fast when testing, and forgot to take out before publishing. I will remove this in an update as soon as the november comp is over (if I update it will disqualify).

Just ignore the space button, and only use the ones instructed (Arrow Key Up + Z)

Hope that helps! Please do try again :)
Downloaded from the provided link in the comments here and ran the game. The only level I could start on was the last one. The game loaded up the credits which rolled backwards. Followed by the boss fight in reverse. Then all the levels in reverse sequence with the player running backwards and could be completed simply by pressing space. Finished the whole game with about 2 seconds per stage. At this point I thought it was a joke introduction. But then, after it finished at the beginning, when I tried to actually play a stage it would autocomplete as soon as a jumped. Either you're playing a trick on me or the game has a serious problem.

I know, unfortunately there are currently some issues with the Steam version. Should be fixed soon.
In the meanwhile, please try this standalone Windows version!

I'm not surprised, there are currently some problems with the Steam version. It is being looked at - I'm terribly sorry for the inconvenience, and it will be fixed ASAP.
In the meanwhile, please try this standalone Windows version: http://spoileralertgame.com/game/SpoilerAlert_RC4_Windows.zip - it should work! :)

CrazyManiac100: Hehe, I wish! The awesome graphics are by Martin Bruun Pedersen. He does indeed know his craft!
Question: Did you make all these graphics yourself? They are so awesome.
Great! Ok, so a pause function would bring it up to a 5? xD
I just passed that penguin. I think it would be nice if the game included the option to pause.
I didn't completed it yet. I'm stuck in 2-8 stage. I don't know how to resurrect armored penguin safely. Always catch me and i can't go further.
Thanks for the rating! Any comments on what we could do to bring it up in the future? :)
I give it a 3.5/5. Easy controlling and challenging levels. An explosive and addictive combination
Darugio:
Thank you so much, that's very nice to hear! Would you mind giving a rating based on that experience? :)

Standalone version works fine for me. Pretty good game. Original gameplay and adjusted difficulty. I love it

CrazyManiac100:
Aww, thanks man! I hope YoYoGames fixes this soon, but until then, I can offer you to download a standalone Windows version here: http://spoileralertgame.com/game/SpoilerAlert_RC3_Windows.zip

Please let me know if that works (although on XP, I don't think it will work - that is also a bit troublesome, appearantly!)
Yeah that error is lame, I got real excited when I saw all those screen shots XD
Darugio:
Damn, you're right. It seems that it was fine a couple of days ago, don't know what happened, but it's doing the same thing here. I have reported this to the YoYoGames support team, hope they will fix it soon, and I hope you will give my game another chance! :)

And thanks for the report!
