Blue towers shoot at NPCs, the Red towers shoot at players.
NPCs can destroy the towers as long as there is something else around them that they can destroy (because the towers aren't a real target)

how to make it work? i have 2 problems: either it NEVER works, or it works for a bit then stops. but the ones that shoot YOU work JUST fine...

I'm not sure if it's just me, but if you undo the target of the blue turret while it's being attacked, the turret keeps shooting. If you remove the turret after that, any new blue turrets don't work at all (until you restart the map).
