Republic of Iraq (1990-1991):

-names added to personnel name list, derived from references in Wikipedia article on Saddam Hussein

Workspace:

-CfgFactions class labeled changed from “command_and_conquer_baathist_republic_of_iraq_forces” to simply “baathist_republic_of_iraq_forces;” Command & Conquer: ARMA III Lives portion has been retired in favor of this entry; the assets are completely the same and have since been expanded

-Faction icon added

-all 3Den Editor unit preview images retaken and resized to 256x256

-all RGO grenades replaced with RGD-5 grenades; all maximum canteen counts increased to 2

-all Sa-61 in primary rifle weapon slots replaced with Sa vz. 61 handgun secondary weapons

-all CUP antitank mines have been replaced by native antitank mines

-some unit designations depicting specific uniforms, weapons, or numerical labels removed; logical names still retained

-added additional entries to Iraqi names

Leadership:

-Saddam Hussein Browning HP pistol maximum magazine capacity increased from 3 to 6

Iraqi Ground Forces:

-Rifleman with ERDL Highland and Lowland uniforms, Sa vz. 58P, FN FAL, Automatic Rifleman (RPK and MAG), and Conscript Team Leader, Conscript (PKM and RPG-7), and Conscript Crewman added based on results of new research into Iraqi Armed Forces uniforms and weapons

-some items are forced into personnel vests via EventHandlers when BLUFOR uniforms are worn

-grenade count increased; available smoke colors now includes White, Orange, and Red

-all personnel have been inspected; primary rifle maximum magazine capacity increased from 5 to 6 for regular Army personnel (i.e., not Conscripts)

-all Officers now armed with CZ 75 pistols

-Squad Leader and Team Leader now carries smoke grenades; MagLites now appear in uniforms

-Team Leader ammunition matches those of all other soldiers and is compatible with primary rifle

-Squad Leader and Riflemen now equipped with Smesh Vest (Buttpack) vests

-Type 56 rifle magazines changed to 7.62mm 30-round AKM magazines for ease of standardization

-Rifleman (SKS) maximum magazine count increased from 10 to 12

-Antitank designation for RPG-7 soldier reaffirmed at all class levels

-Sniper SVD PSO-1 Scope (w/o eyepiece/AK) changed to PSO-1 Scope (w/o eyepiece)

-Scout is now equipped with Sa vz. 61 (replacing the Makarov pistol) and 2x M83 Smoke Grenades (Red and Orange)

-Combat Medic blood distribution modified from 6x 1,000ml packets to 4x 1,000ml, 2x 500ml, and 4x 250ml packets

-Sapper CZ 75 COMPACT changed to TT-33 pistol, canteen and bandage placement corrected

-Mechanic Makarov PM changed to TT-33 pistol; Slash Bandolier (Green) vest added to loadout

-Helicopter Pilot Maglite XL50 deployment issue corrected

-Helicopter Pilot and Crewman smoke grenades expanded to include White, Orange, and Red smoke

-Helicopter Crewman Binoculars, Map, Compass, Watch, and Radio removed

-all Conscripts now wear Smersh Vest (Light) vests, BDU (OD, Dirty) uniforms, and Patrol Cap (OD) headgear when applicable

-Conscript (Sa-61) maximum magazine capacity reduced from 7 to 5

Republican Guard:

-Automatic Rifleman (PKM) added

-all personnel have been inspected; primary rifle maximum magazine capacity increased from 5 to 7; smoke grenades expanded to include M18 Smoke (Orange), ammunition now fires green tracers, Makarov PM sidearm replaced with TT-33 and maximum magazine count increased to 4, canteen count increased and/or verified to 2

-unit patch calls now invoke the larger red-triangle patch

-Team Leader is now equipped with a radio, Smersh Vest (full) applied

-Automatic Rifleman (RPK) maximum magazine capacity increased from 6 to 9

-Grenadier GP-25 maximum VOG-25 grenade count increased from 7 to 13

-Antiair soldier backpack removed, as the Strela-2 9K32 is a single-use disposable launcher system and cannot be reloaded

-Sniper now equipped with a Shemagh (Green), Smersh Vest (full) implemented to depict an attached radio, SVD maximum magazine capacity increased from 7 to 9, unit icon changed to reflect the “Recon” designation

-Combat Medic Smersh Vest (full) implemented to depict an attached radio, maximum blood count increased from 6L to 8L

-Vehicle Crewman RGD-5 Grenade count increased to 2, smoke grenade count decreased to 1 of each type (White, Orange, Red)

Iraqi Air Force:

-Pilot specifically assigned to Iraqi Air Force subcategory; research has shown that the Republican Guard did not incorporate fighter pilots into its ranks, so the Fighter Pilot has been reassigned out of the Republican Guard category, RGD-5 Grenades removed; M18 Smoke and M83 Smoke Grenades in all colors (except Purple) added, name redesignated at all levels

Conscripts

-all Conscripts now assigned to their own 3Den Editor subcategory as “Men (Conscripts)”

Turrets:

-D-30 (AT), Igla AA Pod, and Search Light added

-all turret base classes now reference default CUP base classes instead of specific national forces

-variant Riflemen have been assigned to each turret system

Vehicles:

-equipment, weapons, and ammunition storage adjusted across all vehicles

-some vehicle classes have “Conscript” variants, crewed by Conscript personnel

-UAZ-469 (Open and Medevac), BTR-80 (Army and Republican Guard), BMP-1P, BMP-2 (Ambulance, Republican Guard), T-72 (standard Army crew), Pook Artillery 2S1, 2S3, and 9K72 SCUD added

-UAZ redesignated “UAZ-469” to reflect current naming style; light covers hidden by default; UAZ camouflage scheme randomized between multiple similar options

-Land Rover camouflage scheme randomized

-Ural (Repair) truck now driven by Mechanic

-BTR-40 redesignated “BTR-152;” while it is not an exact model, it is close enough for our purposes to adhere to the findings of our research; Conscript-operated vehicle added

-BTR-60PB color designation removed

-BMP-1 (Republican Guard) redesignated “BMP-1 “Saddam II” (Republican Guard);” any “Army” designations applied to vehicles to designate standard infantry personnel assigned to the vehicle have been removed

-BMP-2 base class vehicles and preferred camouflage reverted to or verified as being derived from the National Party of Chernarus

-ZSU-23-4 base class switched from Takistani Army to Sahrani Liberation Army

-Mi-8 Hip default camouflage changed from green to tan

Groups:

-Conscript teams now led by Conscript team leaders; all Conscripts are considered Privates

-Conscript Fire Team (Antitank) now led by a Conscript Team Leader and includes 2 Conscripts (RPG) and 2 Conscripts (AK-47) personnel

-existing Conscript Squads differentiated from Conscript Squads (Mixed); Mixed includes regular Army Ground Forces, while Conscript Squads contain all Conscripts

-Mechanized Combat Medics (BMP-2, Ambulance) and Republican Guard variant Team Leader and 2 Combat Medics removed

-Mi-8MT (Medevac) Team moved to Airborne Infantry (Ground Forces)

-BM-21 Battery moved into Artillery category

-Airborne Infantry (Republican Guard) added

-Air Force group added; focus is on Su-25s

OPFOR: Republic of Iraq:

-Mi-171Sh (Unarmed and Rockets) added. Compared to the Mi-8 variants, this type transports fewer soldiers, but has a pylon variant that mounts an additional rocket pod and includes a rear gunner. Iraqi forces were noted to use both helicopter types.

-helicopter crews added to all Mi-8s and variants.

-composition Groups Mi-8MT (Medevac) Team added. This team incorporates an Mi-8MT (Medevac) Helicopter with 4 Iraqi Army Combat Medics as an alternative to an attempt to force a Combat Medic into an Mi-8MT (Medevac) Helicopter based on an existing entry found in the CUP Vehicles Mi-8 configuration, which ultimately failed after several attempts.

-compositions Groups redefined and reclassified to better conform to ARMA III naming convention. Some groups renamed accordingly.

-all compositions Groups are now identified with the appropriate NATO “OPFOR” strategic icons.

-Republican Guard Mi-24D Hind Element was not available in the 3Den Editor due to a misnamed class label. This has been corrected. All Mi-24D Hind Elements now have an established minimum and maximum altitude for Zeus deployment.

-base model of T-72 switched to T-72 from Sahrani Liberation Army.

-Mi-24D Hind camouflage references CUP texture files rather than extracted camouflage pattern.

-3Den Editor Subcategories will adopt the standard naming convention as closely as possible, with “Wheeled Vehicles” divided into “Cars” and “Trucks.” All antiaircraft platforms have been assigned to the “Anti-Air” subcategory.

OPFOR: Republic of Iraq:

-M80 (Iraq) added, based on report from SnipezTheII: Thank you!

Iraqi forces were known to utilize M80 and M90 helmets, which were derivatives of the U.S. M1 helmet. The Iraqi variant was known to be extremely weak and unable to provide proper protection against incoming rounds. -Iraqi Ground Forces Squad Leader and Rifleman (AK-47, tan uniform) helmets changed to M80 (Iraq).
