Update 2.71.37
  • MES now is able to handle encounters without remote controls: The majority of the new base game encounters do not use Remote Control blocks. This was an issue for MES, because MES attaches all its logic to the RC block. The problem with the new cargo ships being immobile has been addressed shortly after the patch, but the issue remaining was that the way MES recognized cargo ships was by them drifting at a certain speed. Variance from that speed was considered player interaction, and thus the cargo ship was removed from the list considered for despawn. With AI blocks, this was no longer accurate and so we added an exception for this logic in case no RC is used on the grid. This means that when base game cargo ships now reach their despawn coordinates, it is registered correctly and they will despawn.
  • MES now properly paints the base game grids: We updated the code to apply faction recoloring to all base game encounters. If you would like to use this for your own encounters, paint your grid in the corresponding shade of red and then use the "[ApplyFactionColor:true]"-tag in your SpawnGroup.
  • MES now properly recognizes all parts of base game encounters and despawns them correctly: This was actually a longstanding issue with MES, but was made worse with the new base game encounters. Prefabs usually only contain one grid with any number of subgrids. But prefabs can actually contain multiple independent grids - not just subgrids - as well. This is extensively used in the new base game random encounters introduced in the last patch. MES had no handling for that up until now and would only recognize the main grid, or first grid, of the prefab as spawned by MES (and thus eligible for despawn). As such, when the cleanup conditions were fulfilled, only that one grid was despawned with all others left over. This has been fixed with the help of Digi and BDCarrillo: MES now recognizes all grids in a prefab as spawned by MES, and thus correctly applies despawn logic to all of them.
  • MES now applies its despawn logic to unowned grids in a more sensible way: Up until now, there was an issue with the logic of the "CleanupIncludeUnowned" config option: If it was turned on, and the grid in question had blocks on it owned by NPCs, or it was spawned by MES, it would skip all remaining cleanup checks. This does not actually make sense based on the description for this option (and in general) so it's been changed to check if the grid in question is a) unowned, b) spawned by MES and c) this config option is turned off. If so, it is excluded from cleanup permanently. If the config option is on, the remaining cleanup checks proceed normally. This is in line with the description of the config option on the wiki, but it is different from how it behaved until now - so ensure that the config is set to what you want to happen. This also needed to be fixed because otherwise most additional prefab grids from base game random encounters were not despawned.
Should you, with this new patch, encounter issues with vanilla encounters not despawning or otherwise not behaving as expected, please report it to us and make sure to supply the name of the encounter, as well as a screenshot of the encounter. And of course your game logs.

Please bear in mind that Steam might take a bit to update on your end, and that download corruption is still a frequent issue with SE Steam downloads. Should you encounter strange errors with the mod not working at all, please attempt these[spaceengineers.wiki.gg] steps first of all, to see if that is the cause.
