If you loaded a previous map it might have caused issues with which textures or models will be loaded and which will not. Try restarting SFM and see if it doesn't help, otherwise there's nothing I can really do I'm afraid.
Yes I am very well aware of that, and that's exactly what I've been trying to do. However there are a lot more L4D2 assets in the map than you think, such as the trees, the canopy outside the restaurant and many others I'm not gonna list on top of my head - and some of those models have multiple textures that aren't just named the same as their models, so I have to hunt down those as well. I am not interested in spending any more time repeatedly trying to pack all the models and textures in.

you can literally download the L4D2 content, go to the main folder, take just those two models and their textures, and either plop them in your usermod/workshop/wherever OR open the map in something like pakrat, and embed the models that way.
