Easier way: Use the gizmo move tool to position the gun exactly where you want it then make the joint.
Joints are destroyed if you place the model in a bag. You can however select the stalker and gun by making a group box around them then saving them to your saved objects collection, they can then be spawned on demand. This is why there are so many variants for the QoC mod, the host can save them all in advance then spawn them on demand in a QoC game.
