German V 90 | Class 290 / 291 / 294 / 295 / 296

The german class V 90 is a class for heavy shunting services and has been updated and refurbished. They consist of the class 290, 291, 294, 295 and 296, where class 290 was renumbered to 294 after refurbishing and 291 to class 295. The V 90 looks like a cousin to class V 100 and indeed they are using at least the same engines. But the V 100 was designed for light train services and so was too lightweight for heavy shunting. The V 90 and accompanied classes are partly still in service in some shunting yards and also used for short good train services.
