Does this by any chance fix the issue with the wheels and driving rods turning at different paces? Hopefully its not just an issue with my game...

Oh alright. But the texture from the beginning is worn on the roof on this train for exemple. "Dirt" can be the element added to it instead of making the train look worn when it's brand new.

I get that most trains weren't that cosmetic appealing after a few years but as brand new, it's unrealistic. As I said: many modders seems to add cosmetic faults to the trains from the beginning, and a few ones in the game are like that as well. I think it is a question of we want them to actually be "brand new" when we buy them in the game, or if it is our expectation of how theese trains would look if they are preserved today. Just like roman statues all are white now, and we expect them to be. Even though they used to be coloured as well. I think we should imagine how these train looked when they actually exited the factory.

The reason for that is because there is only two channels for ageing that make changes to the skin of the locomotive. One is 'dirt' and the other is 'rust.' We dont have any more channels to add paint chips, scrapes, color fading, water deposits, or other weathering features. In addition the United States companies that operated these locomotives generally did as little cosmetic maintenance that they could get away with, especially from the 30s to the end of steam and into the diesel era.

What disturbs me with this model is that when you buy it and it's all new: the roof is already sun bleached!? Can you please fix that so the bleached roof is a good colour at first and becomes bleached with age/dirt? On your model you seems to make the the detail paint also to be worn. Is that on the new trains as well?

A lot of both vanilla and workshop trains/cars has similar problems.
