Married Lesbians

描述
Allows a female homosexual ruller to marry her lesbian lover, and have children. (Just because you prefer other women doesn't mean you can't ask a male courtier to help.)

MARRIAGE

To marry your lesbian lover, the following conditions must ALL be true:
- both must be women
- both must be homosexual
- they MUST already be lovers
- they must NOT be close relatives (sorry, Zoroastrians)
- both must be adults (as far as the game rules say so)
- neither may be a nun, celibate, an eunuch or zealous
- neither may be already married or a concubine
- your potential bride must be your vassal or courtier (if they won't move to your court, maybe they don't love you all THAT much)
- you must NOT be the head of a theocracy (pope, patriarch, fylkir, etc; hey, obey your own rules)

After a few years of the relationship, youi'll get an event that your lover is ok with marriage, and you can choose to marry them or not. If yes, you get married. If not, well, you'll get the event again in a few years.

The event will fire sooner if you're cynical, brave and/or a satanist. It will also fire sooner if you're independent, i.,e., don't have a liege to worry about. The event will take much longer to fire if you're a coward.

If you have multiple lovers that qualify (i.e., they're all in your court, not zealous, etc), a random one will be picked. You will not get the event more often. So if you have a particular one in mind, well, you might want to stick to one qualifying lover until you get married. You can pad the list with ones that don't qualify, though, (e.g., lovers abroad,) if you absolutely must be polyamorous at all times.

Note that homosexual marriage WILL have consequences. BOTH you and your bride WILL annoy the religious authorities for quite a while. ALL zealous characters in the whole realm will disapprove of both you and your wife, and some may even become angry. ALL characters who are not cynical, homosexual or satanists may or may not disapprove anyway. Characters which are cynical, homosexual or satanists, but not zealous, don't care.

That may include your liege, so, well, be sure you can take the opinion hit if he's a zealot.

Also note that those modifiers do stack, so if you have a powerful zealot bishop as a vassal, he'll get the lower opinion from both the "annoyed religious authorities" AND "disapprove", and may get "angry" on top of those. So, yeah, expect to not see taxes from him any time soon, and possibly see him join a faction or two.

All these opinions will expire sooner or later -- sooner for non-zealous characters, later for zealots -- so you're not screwed up for all eternity, but you'll have to deal with it in the meantime.

CHILDREN

Once you're married, after a few years the wife will propose that one of you gets impregnated by a man, for the sake of your dynasty. You can choose that you get pregnant, she gets pregnant, or just say no.

(Saying no can be a good idea if you've got gavelkind succession and already have an heir. But, hey, it's just a hint. I'm not telling you how to live your love life.)

Be warned that whoever is the liege gets the decision. So if you no longer control your wife, well, she may decide to get herself pregnant without consulting you. (She can't decide to force-impregnate the player, though.)

The event can fire multiple times, but will not fire if you've currently got a child under the age of three.

The event will fire significantly faster if you or your wife have the family focus, and even faster if you both have it. So you might want to try that focus if you need an heir and fast. The event will also fire a lot faster if you don't currently have any underage children. I.e., if either you have no children at all, or they're all adults by now.

All children born of two mothers will automatically be legitimized bastards. People will figure out that it's not a miraculous birth. Is all I'm saying.

Otherwise, there won't be the usual bastards drama, and both moms will count as the kid's natural parents.

If one of the mothers is the vassal of the other, children will be of the dynasty of the liege. If neither controls the other, the child will be of the dynasty of the one who wasn't pregnant. So if you don't control the spouse and want the children to be of your dynasty, make her be the one who gets impregnated.

NOTES

1. No, it's not historical, nor realistic for the period. The church would probably get far more annoyed than in this mod. But, hey, in the meantime the game lets you awaken Cthulhu, or live happily while known to litrerally worship Satan and sacrifice babies. So, eh, I figured an option to stretch the rules a little more won't break it.

2. Don't expect some elaborate story arcs. I pondered that, but, honestly, I just want heirs. So I went with the simplest events for it. Event pops up, you choose yes or no, that's it. The rest of the world doesn't have to go through hoops to get a heir. I'd rather focus on taking over the world.

3. Why not gay men too? Well, for a start, the itch I just had to scratch was getting pregnant and having heirs. I can't in good conscience get a man pregnant ;) I might code some adoption arc as an alternative at some point, but that was a bit unnecessary for what I needed right now.

Plus, speaking of offending religious authorities, while the Bible doesn't actually have anything against lesbians (Paul talks down on it in passing, but doesn't actually say you should do something to them) it does say that if a man lays with another man as with a woman, both should be stoned. (Being stoned helps, I guess;)) My take is that the church reaction would be even more disproportionate.

CHEATS

If you don't want to wait, or if the game already threw an incredibly long wait at you, you can always pull down the console and trigger the events yourself:

- get married: event married_lesbians.2
- get pregant: event married_lesbians.1

Note that this won't let you bypass the requirements, though. Yes, the "event" command bypasses matching the trigger conditions, but AFAIK not the conditions in IF blocks or scopes in the options. So picking a random qualifying lover (yes, even from a pool of 1 it's still technically random;)) will probably still fail if none qualifies.

So you can't even marry your sister if you have a religion that allows it?

i don't think this is the most realistic mod as medieval noblewomen would probably not be alowed to marry
