Awhile back someone posted a screenshot of all the ships in the game files not all of which are in use. One them in particular, the CV Lightning, caught my eye. It was hopelessly outdated constructed of obsolete blocks and non-functional devices.

No longer! I give you the CV Lightning Mark 2. Streamlined, upgraded, and ready to expore the galaxy.


Four decks featuring a spacious hangar and all the usual stuff you'd expect to find plus a few surprises. Care has been taken to locate fluff areas towards the outside of the ship as much as possible while more important areas are located towards the middle of the ship. Corridors and elevators shafts have been laid out to make it easy to get around.

Weapons include a number of fixed pulse lasers and rocket launchers, two artillery turrets, and some plasma turrets. Combat steel exterior, regular steel interior. While there is a main bridge located up front there's also a secondary cockpit located on the maintenance level. A few of the rooms have been left empty so that you may personalize them to your taste.

I repainted it dark blue, furnished the spare rooms, and it's awesome! I love this ship, but I wish I didn't have to repaint it all the time.

Stellar (pun intended) design and color palette. At first glance reminds me of the Tau. It's similar to something I'd try to build if I had time in creative.

Thanks all! Yeah it's a bit of a resource hog and not entirely combat focused. The idea was to update the old design and maybe get it added back into the game as an AI freighter. Doesn't mean it can't be fun to own. =)

The price is a little (lot) steep for a PVP survival game, but it looks like a great build.

A good looking ship, I doubt my capital vessel (when it's finally finished) will look this good in the end. Wonderful job indeed.
