Looking forward to se the 2k one and test. I hope you find ways to compensate for what the game lacks. But it seems pretty difficult! I don't know shit how to do things like that. :P
Good luck!
The original game does not have "blue fog", it is the arithmetic color of very light grey, almost white: fog = { color = { 0.55, 0.95, 1.05 }}
The fog color in this mod is taken directly from the horizon color, like so: game.config.environment.fog.color = { 0.27, 0.41, 0.75 }
... a dark greyish blue that blends in with the skybox horizon. The light level in this mod is also very low as it is early morning, or "crack of dawn". Again, this will change with the new textures.
The Sunset mod uses a different fog color:
game.config.environment.fog.color = { 1.05, 0.65, 0.25 }
... a very light yellowish-orange.
I wish I could do it like this: http://blog.wolfire.com/2009/07/blending-land-and-sky/
In Transport Fever, the "fog band" is built in and one only has to change it's color to match the skybox. You can also change the light color to match the color of sunlight passing through the atmosphere.
The problem in this game, is that the maps are on the small size (even the large and experimental sizes), where the terrain suddenly drops off instead of fading into the distant horizon. The maps are all procedurally generated, so it is difficult to match them to the skybox.
What I need to know from this "Experiment" is:
-is it too dark?
-make the sky more vibrant (increased color saturation and/or brightness)
-add/adjust ambient lighting?
-fix shadow quality?
... those sorts of details. As far as I know, one can add/activate the mod to their game and remove it afterward without problems.
Thats fine I can wait. nice mod though
