Most of these minigames from me are idea-checks and trying the edges of the engine what is possible. Some not works, some works but too boring as alone. They also can be a brainstorms for others, which can be a great begin for a better projects, so I upload them.
Ofc, aoe2HD limits hardly what I can do, so most of them stays at Voobly.
(you can find link at my profile)
Example, this started from the "Duck Hunting" project, where I really liked the hunter gameplay, as you can't target the duck players and have to attack manually.
Let's try make it as an own! (this is what you tried now)
But this is not the end, I also noticed there is no real object on the map, so I mixed with an other idea, where players can pick up relics with military units. Turn relics into flag, make it into a real capture-the-flag game (like in shooters), mix everything up, and ding! "Flag War" project is done.
My problem with it is that its very slow and nothing really promoting aggressive play. For example some sort of king of the hill could be nice. Just as with my problem with most Diplo games, I dont like when the only viable strategy is to stay out of conflict. Thats not the recipe for an intriguing game.
Believe it would be more fun though with more players, and at best, friends with which one may enjoy the game by finding creative ways to interact in it. And even though the AI does well defensively (actually lost to him), he's no fun.
Also funny how your pal doesn't seem to like it at all in your promotional video :p
