- increased the distance between player lands and the edge of the map
- got rid of grouped_by_team
If I remember correctly, what I did was to set it up that players would be "grouped by team" if they were on the same team and the "team together" tickbox is checked. What this means is that the team will share walls. If that's what you mean by messed up spawn positions, then don't tick the box.
Otherwise you also want to make sure to pick a suitably large map size.
It can't be fixed if you don't explain what is broken
