On a side note and obviously in addition to the general attenuation loss, does Arma 3's sound engine increasingly low pass filter all the sounds with distance through the air and with obstacles in the sound's path?
I've tried several options and the "strange" sound in the background after explosion is caused by tank shells or IFV shells. When I deleted in the folder (medium projectiles.pbo) the sound was no longer there.
I also deleted the small projectiles.pbo so I don't have bullet crack sounds as well. I have artillery, explosion and other impact sounds only.
In my opinion 155mm artillery impact sounds are the best. Bombs and rocket artillery impact sounds are very good as well.
But mortar sounds are not so good. And this sound is little bugy, because you can hear it when mortar firing as well. Not in impact only. But after fire from mortar as well. When the shell is out of barrel.
Impact and explosion sounds are pretty good. But after explosion a strange sound is heard in the background. It takes a few seconds.
