Never use the "burn decals" button. It only exists to improve performance on low-end PCs which, in 2016, is a non-issue. Burned decals look really bad and there's really no reason for that option to exist anymore.
Generally, you don't ever need to adjust the height of the water. Use the smoothing tool to make the land and water blend into eachother. This will make your beaches and shores look much more

Also, bases should always start with at least 4 coal piles. Never 3.
