VC Frigate

Unable to function unsupported for as long as the Void Corp Cruiser, the Accretion Class Frigate is normally operated closer to VC controlled planets or space stations where they can be regularly resupplied. When mobilized for war, however, Void Corp often fields dozens of these smaller (relative to a cruiser) but still deadly, escorts alongside its cruisers, carriers, and destroyers. Armadas such as this are costly to operate however, requiring numerous support vessels to travel with the fleet acting as mobile resupply bases. And so Void Corp only deploys such formations with a specific mission to complete before the various ships making up the flotilla return to their usual assignments, or dry-dock.

Void Corp, as many large enterprises, tends to favor proven techniques, designs, and technology; and, they try to find economies of scale and scope wherever possible. Therefore, the frigate, though a much more recent addition the fleet, has a hull design based partly on the time tested Arbiter Class Cruiser hull.

The Frigate, though more lightly armed than a Cruiser, still mounts an arsenal that commands respect even from larger vessels. Many a battle has been decided in favor of Void Corp because the opposing fleet commanders underestimated the deadliness of a squadron of VC Frigates.
