Back before retail, GMod required HL2, HL2DM, and CS:S installed to even launch. Consider yourself lucky you didn't play then.

Yeah, I now understand WHY, its just frustrating that I need to have those two games bought and downloaded at all times to make it work. DLC would be SO much better, but I think Ive found content packs for both. Truth be told I was just salty :P

the reason why folks use alot of CS:S and HL2 Ep2 content in their maps (especially city rp maps) is becuase the base gmod textures and models are from half life 2, thusly everything looks run down,all the wall plaster textures are peeling off, the metal textures look rusted ect. of course, if you want to make a modren city, or anything that looks clean, these textures wont work, so thats why so many maps use these textures. In the end, it would make more sence if gmod had DLC packs for diffrent sourse games content. :/

Yeah, and there are many other old games I am not interested in and dont want to buy - unfortunate.

Yeah, because this was originally a CS:S map. At this point, CS:S is pushing 16 years old, and EP2 is over 10. There's no excuse.

Its like every good map requires Ep2 or CSS
