Note on Mod Content

This mod is not currently being updated or supported by me, and is very out of date for the current version of the game. If others would like to use the assets or base their own revamp with content from this mod, they are welcome to do so if they give credit.


Description

Expanded Religions is a mod that aims to add more religious diversity to the world, particularly in the areas that would be considered Fetishist, Tengri, or Nahuatl in the base game. Most of these religions use art assets from or mechanics from the Crusader Kings 2 Converter. This mod does not require any DLC, but the Aztec religion does have and uses the Religious Reforms mechanics if the DLC El Dorado is used.


Mod Features
:
  • The Shamanism religion tag is restored to being the form of paganism for provinces and countries in Siberia and Sami Scandinavia. Shamanism now shares decisions and events with Tengri, but does not have the Syncretic Faith feature.
  • Sibir (tag SIB) is a Tengri nation in later historical dates with the Sunni syncretic faith.
  • Fetishism is now split into three religions: West African, Central African, and East African. The African Pagans share decisions with Shamanism, and events are now adjusted to account for the new religion(s).
  • Added the Aztec religion, which uses the same religious reform and Doom mechanics as the Nahuatl religion, but with a higher morale bonus and lower base revolt reduction. Aztec is the state religion of Aztec. Aztec and Nahuatl nations can convert between the two at-will for the cost of Doom.
  • Added the Sonoran religion for the North American Southwest. Sonoran shares decisions and events with Totemism.
  • Added Jainism as a religion in the Dharmic group. As a state religion, Jainism allows for a high level of religious tolerance and unity at the cost of land morale. Provinces with Jain religion have a natural penalty to local revolt risk. Other Dharmic faiths can convert to Jain at any time, similar to Sikhism.
  • Added Romuvan (Baltic) paganism as a selectable religion in the Nation Designer. Romuvan (currently) does not show up in any province or country histories.
  • Split the pagan group into the Pagan, American Pagan, and African Pagan religious groups.
  • Coptic christianity now uses the patriarch authority mechanics, and so now shares generic events with Orthodox christians.
  • Sunni, Shia, and Ibadi countries can convert between these branches of Islam at will.
  • Ibadi now has the “misguided heretic” opinion stealth-modifier with other muslims.
  • Shinto countries can convert to Mahayana at will.
  • Added new names for Buddhist heretic rebels.
  • The Aztec culture is renamed to Mexica.
  • Fixed numerous spelling and grammar errors in the long-form English descriptions for religions.


    Unfinished Content:

    Expanded Religions is compatible with any mod that does not alter religions or graphical religion icons. Mods that alter the history files for provinces or countries may find compatibility issues if those countries / provinces are in Subsaharan Africa, the North American southwest region, Siberia, or several other locations. Mods that alter "text_l_english.yml" will experience localization compatibility issues.

    One of my other mods, Expanded China Mechanics, is fully compatible with Expanded Religions.

    As of this moment, the only supported language in the mod files is English.


    Unfinished Content:

  • Adding musical cues to the Religion tab for newly-added religions.
  • Converting many religious decision modifiers to end on the death of the ruler, rather than as a permanent effect.

Two questions, can mahayana convert back to shinto? If not you could add it w/ requirement of a shinto province. On the note of Coptic, why do you hate fun? Can't they keep their own mechanics? Or could you make Patriarch authority a sliding scale like piety of the authority of ruler vs patriarch and let orthodox have icons, and coptic have holy sites with patriarch relabled as "Coptic Patriarch" with events surrounding alexandria / mamluks / ottomans with the coptic patriarch pushing for the reclaiming of alexandria?

Great work, could you perhaps add hellenic and old egyptian religions too, that wouldnt make too much sense considering theyre dead but it would be cool

This seems like a good mod, considering I feel religion is quite lacking in vanilla. If you're still working on the mod I'd love to see the Ck2 converted religions like Yazidi added.
