Tasseled Long Axe Weapon Skin for the Halberd.

Before there was a Halberd there was the Long Axe. This weapon is somewhere in-between. It has a bearded axe-head a decorated hammer on the back, a sharp metal spike has been used as the wedge for the top of the haft that gives the axe stabbing capability and brings it into the world of the halberd. The handle is decorated with a tassel and wrap, typical of many historical halberds. The tassel is died two colours and gold/yellow and a crimson/purple which telegraph both Agatha and mason teams. The colour choice for the dye was based on a German halberd reference from early 17th century. The haft is also adorned with decorative brass rivets. The axe-head is unpolished and the edge been roughly sharpened, the bearded axe head is typical of ‘Viking’ axes and offers some protection to handle and increases the cutting surface of the weapon while keeping the weight down, it is also possibly a useful tool for hooking and opponents weapon or shield. The haft is wood with a dark finish it is unprotected unlike most halberds which have metal plating. The tassel, wraps and rivets serve as the only protection for the handle below the beard, and these pieces function in benefit more towards distraction then physical protection. This weapon is long axe modified to be a halberd. Its primary function is hurting people. It’s not a palace guards leaning post or defensive multi-tool on a stick, it’s a big axe…. vote if you want this big hurty thing in the game!
