To celebrate reaching 500 YouTube subscribers, I'm sharing one of my first machines!

As a beginner machine, it is primitive. But it's also user-friendly, surprisingly sturdy, and capable of beating 26 of the 30 current zones.

As a medieval machine should be

The steering method, catapult style, and other traits of the machine, are relics that have since been replaced by more efficient designs, so it actually feels like a machine from the past; fitting for a medieval-themed game. Just try not to get too nostalgic while you're laying waste to unsuspecting villages.

Controls

Arrows to move
h = lower grabber
v = release grabber
l = throw bomb
j = decouple catapult (in case you have OCD about driving around with an empty catapult like I did when I designed this)

Go forth and conquer!

Now hit subscribe, and splatter some blood on this priceless antique! (Just make sure to keep track of the original thumbnail image; that makes it worth more.)

I just noticed I already knew your channel :P
Keep up the good work!

I tested your machine, and I think the only thing that you could improve is to make it throw the bomb a little furhter at least.

Your machine is very good and you are a talented creator. I will check your youtube channel now :)

I know, there are better ways to do a lot of the things in this design. This is one of my first machines that I made ages ago, and I posted it to go along with my video in which I test it in the newer zones. I talk about some of the machine's design faults and quirks in the video.

By the way, strangely, the steering method I prefer now isn't in either of those videos. Here's a video explaining the steering that I find to be the most efficient:

Its good but honestly steering hinges are the worst steering IN THE ENTIRE GAME!

Good video. I would just suggest soft music in background.

I set up a beam of wood to pivot on a hinge. I attached springs to the front of the beam and to a lower point, so they pull the front of the beam down, and raise the back where the bomb is.

The relative distances between the hinge, the bomb, and the spring attachment points, are important. The springs are attached close to the hinge, and the bomb is farther from the hinge, so the bomb end goes faster than the spring end.

You can make a more compact catapult using a steering hinge or two in sequence, with their speeds set to the max. Attach the steering hinges to the machine and put a grabber and a bomb on the end. It can help to add a block or two to the end of the last steering hinge before adding the grabber and bomb.

To use that catapult, move the steering hinges forward and release the grabber at the right time. It takes practice. If the catapult is mobile, you can move it forward while launching for more distance.

A video of the latter catapult:

I am trying to understand how you built the catapult. Any help?

Nice machine, congratulation!
