Some history:

Erie, Pennsylvania, USA is a city in northwestern Pennsylvania with a population of about 110,000 people. The city is located along the southern coast of Lake Erie, one of the US and Canada's 5 Great Lakes. Erie is mostly known for it's water-based attractions. Erie is one of the biggest cities along the coast of Lake Erie (coming in 4th place behind Cleveland, OH). In the 1600's and early 1700's, the Erie area was populated with the Iriquois Indian Tribe. British-American settlers pushed the tribe out of the area, and Americans have populated it ever since. Erie boomed economically in the mid 1800's due to it's large coal pockets, which the city used for industrial, and trade purposes.
