Stiletto Dagger Collection - Vanilla

描述
This mod adds stilettos that can be both crafted and found in loot. There's a stiletto for pretty much every standard material type and one unique one for particularly shadowy assassins. There's also a Legendary version that adds dragonbone and stahlrim stilettos, which you can snag here.

So, what exactly is a stiletto? It's not a shoe, we can get that off the table right away. A stiletto is a knife or dagger designed not to cut, but to puncture, and the narrow blade means the wielder can get into spaces a normal dagger is too fat to get into. Because of this, stilettos are pretty much poop if you just use it like a normal dagger due to their low damage. Swinging it like the Avatar in the SNES version of Ultima 7 is just going to make you super-dead.

Exhibit A. (From Part 1 of Spoony's review of Ultima: Runes of Virtue.)

Where the stilettos excel is in assassination. If you sneak attack your foe while wielding a stiletto, they're dealt 1.5 times more damage compared to if you just smacked them, resulting in either severe wounds or death. Silver stilettos, if used against foes that are susceptible to silver, are dealt 2.5 times more damage, provided you sneak attack them of course.

As mentioned above, stilettos can be crafted or found in loot, whether it be chest loot or in the hands of an enemy. Crafting them requires the necessary perks for the material type (except for Iron). There is also a unique stiletto which can be found in Nightingale Hall.

Could you make the glass stilletto not look like a green plastic dildo

There are imperfections. They're not as evident in some of the stilettos, but they're there. You can see them fairly well on the steel and dwarven stilettos; there's scratches on the blade and some on the crosspiece. There's also slight hints of rust and other mottling. Things probably look cleaner because the textures for the stilettos are higher in resolution than most vanilla weapons, so they're not as mottled by low-resolution blurring, and they're a bit shinier compared to vanilla weapons.

things like that

i mean you should add imperfections, scratches, things like that (just zoom in on an iron dagger, and you will see imperfections)

Looks like you found a market gap. Stiletto Daggers are a fine idea. All Assassins will be very pleased.

Plus, I'm not sure if you've toyed about with them in-game and are just going by the screenshots; in that case they'd look a bit different in your game since the first set of pictures are straight renders from a 3d modeling program, and as I run a few graphics mods in my game, my in-game shots may make some of them seem more matte than they might actually be due to the lighting.

I'm aware of how tonal nuance is lost in plain text, so I prefer to respond reasonably. Plus, having gone through art classes I'm no stranger to critique. I don't hesitate to put my foot down though if it's very clear someone's just being a bellend and not offering anything constructive. Mind, none of this is in reference to ya, just ramblings on my part.

Anyway, with basic shape I assume you mean the actual model of the stiletto? I kept with the style I showed ya for the sake of simplicity, but that's certainly not the only type out there. I could utilize a couple other styles to make some a bit more distinctive. Gloss would have to be experimented with; some materials look better with more and some with less, a balance has to be struck, otherwise things could end up looking like plastic.

oh. thank you for not taking the lst comment as hate, but as fair critisism. what i meant was you should change the basic shape for some of them, and make it more glossy.
again, this is not a hate comment.

I guess then we have a case of reality is unrealistic, because it's based off of a real-life stiletto. Case in point: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/06/Gunners_stiletto_01.jpg

I couldn't find any other reference of that style of stiletto so I had to go with what looked right as far as its dimensions went, but regardless.

change the basic shape and you got yourself a good mod. seriously. the shape is way too cartoony.
