Amazing Race Tweaks! Breton

These are just some of the new powers and abilities this mod gives to the Breton and Breton Vampire races. It's one of more than a dozen mods in the Amazing Race Tweaks! Collection. Others are HERE.


The goal of this mod series is to make each race truly unique. If a mod doesn't give a race powers and abilities no other race has, it shouldn't be called Amazing Race Tweaks! Right? The Forsworn of Skyrim are half Breton and remind me of Native Americans. Native American legends bring to mind mysterious stories of animal spirit guides, wild tales of people transforming into animals. This mod seeks to do these things and more!



Lets you conjure a ghost of almost any animal as a companion once a day. The spirit animal summoned is determined by the necklace you wear. (See Spirit Necklaces, below.) The "spirit brother" or "spirit sister" follows you--and will fight for you--24 game hours, but you may dismiss it any time by removing the necklace. You may have one such follower at a time. Spirit animals you may summon are the same you can shapeshift into. They will continue to follow you after you shapeshift (see Shapeshift Into an Animal, below).

You can transform into most animals--even a trolls--whenever you want. The animal you become is determined by the necklace you wear. (See Spirit Necklaces, below.) The animal forms are fully playable, with left, left power, right, right power and dual-wield attacks. Power attacks have a chance to stagger, knock down, cause fear, or knock back like werewolf attacks. Pressing the sneak button or key plays idle animations--wolf howls, bear roars, chicken dances, etc. Pressing the jump button or key stops idle animations and makes you combat ready. (See Gameplay Tips, below.)

You'll remain an animal 24 game hours, but may change back any time using the shout button or key. You may shapeshift as often as desired. To change into a different animal, equip a different necklace before reactivating the power. Each time you use it, your Alteration skill increase a little. Animals you may become:

• bear (black, grizzly or polar)
  
• chicken
  
• highland cow
  
• dog
  
• elk
  
• fox (common or snow)
  
• horker
  
• mountain goat
  
• mudcrab (common or large)
  
• rabbit
  
• reindeer
  
• sabre cat (common or snowy)
  
• skeever (common or venomfang)
  
• slaughterfish
  
• troll (cave or frost)

PLEASE NOTE: There is a bug where the Shapeshift power currently only works for male characters.

The power of the vanilla game was nice, but didn't do much good if you died before you could use the absorbed magicka. The new power not only has a 50% chance to absorb magicka from hostile spells but also resists 25% more magic--increasing magic resistance to 50% for 2 minutes. The Dragonskin lesser power may be used once every 10 minutes but has only a 25% chance to absorb magicka and resists just 15% more magic. The lesser power also quickly depletes stamina for 2 minutes.

Resists 10% of all unarmed and melee damage and increases Stamina, but it depletes magicka for 2 minutes. There's also a lesser power, which you may use once every 10 minutes. It resists 10% of unarmed and melee damage, increases stamina less, and depletes magicka faster.


Magic resistance remains 25%, but Dragonskin can now increases it.

One-handed weapons and bows do an additional +10% damage.

Alteration and Conjuration increase 20% faster.

Aleration and Conjuration spells cost 20% less, are 20% stronger and last 2x longer.

New characters get the following. Conjuration: +15. Alteration and One Handed: +10. Alchemy, Archery, Light Armor and Sneak: +5. Starting spells are unchanged. (Note: To not change skill bonuses, enable this mod after reaching level 2.)


The spirit necklaces are NOT enchanted. They simply focus your Shapeshift and Summon powers. The necklace you wear determines what animal you summon or become. For example, if you equip an Chicken Spirit Necklace, your powers will conjure a spirit chicken or turn you into a chicken. Wearing a Troll Spirit Necklace will cause the same powers to summon a spirit troll or change you into a troll.

You may create the necklaces at a forge, if you have the required items--ingots, Nirnroots and parts from the animal you want to summon or shapeshift into. Several of them require either Alteration or Conjuration perks to make. (See Gameplay Tips for a way to get them without the perks.) Necklaces and needed perks:

• No perk: Arctic Fox, Chicken, Fox, Mountain Goat, Mudcrab, Rabbit, Skeever and Slaughterfish
  
• Novice Alteration AND Conjuration: Dog, Mudcrab Chief, Venomfang Skeever and Wolf
  
• Apprentic Alteration AND Conjuration: Black Bear, Highland Cow, Elk, Horker, Ice Wolf, Reindeer and Timber Wolf
  
• Adept Alteration OR Conjuration: Grizzly Bear, Polar Bear, Sabre Cat and Snowy Sabre Cat
  
• Expert Alteration OR Conjuration: Cave Troll and Frost Troll

To make sure this mod loads, after subscribing, launch Skyrim, wait for the launch screen to display a message that all mods finished synchronizing, then exit Skyrim to the desktop. Relaunch Skyrim. The mod should now be loaded.


There is a bug where female characters cannot shapeshift. They can use the other powers and abilities. Please report any other bugs you think you find. Mods adding Breton followers and other NPCs should be compatible, unless they change the Breton race.


There's no need to unsubscribe. After subscribing, you may easily disable the mod at anytime:

1. Start the Skyrim launcher
   
2. Wait for it to display a message that mods finished synchronizing
   
3. Select Data Files
   
4. Remove the checkmark next to this mod
   
5. Select OK and Play

IMPORTANT: Be sure to shapeshift back into a man before unsubscribing from the mod.
