LTK a card game inspired with the three kingdoms period of China and relevant romantic fictions. It is so similar with Bang!, so that you will not have any queries in LTK if you have played it.

If you enjoy Dynasty Warrior or other fictional works with the three kingdoms theme, LTK is just for you! LTK is quite a popular board game in China (with the Werewolf). Due to the inexact statements in the US version, I retranslated it and added the Return and the Hero expansion packs (New decks and heroes). Scrolls, equipment and hero abilities mainly come from the literary quotations such as the Art of War. Thus, I tried to transmit the implications from references and let it make sense as well.


If you have not played Bang! or LTK yet, you may need a little tutorial unless you treat it as a pure sandbox game.

Hero - You need draw 3 optional heroes to choose your own hero at the beginning. Great! You need check your kingdom and life points (magatama) on the top, and then take your life tokens from the infinite bag (flip token to lose life points).
Hero Ability - You need check your abilities below. They are important to your victory. There are 2 main special abilities: Monarch Ability ONLY available for a monarch (Role mode only) and Passive Ability MUST be activated when satisfying conditions. Tips: Please check abilities of others as well, you may find their weaknesses and your own tactics!

Deck - There are 3 types of cards in deck: Basic, Scroll and Equipment cards. Basic cards include [Strike!], [Dodge!] and [Peach]. [Strike!] can strike another hero but ONCE per playing phase. If the target refuses to use a [Dodge!] to dodge, he/she will take 1 damage. Your [Peach] can +1 YOUR life while you can also +1 a DYING hero's life. Except some certain situations, you can use any number of Scroll and Equipment cards if satisfying conditions.
Equipment Cards - You only have 4 equipment areas: weapon, amour, +1 mount and -1 mount. Place them in areas to represent you have equipped with them, and also you may use a new equipment card to replace the equipped.

Distance - What is +1 -1 mount? In LTK, your distance to a hero next to you is 1, so your distance to another hero next to that heroes is 2. If the left hero next to you has equipped a +1 mount, the distance is 2 now so you can ONLY use [Strike!] on your right within 1 distance. If you have equipped a -1 mount, your distance to these four heroes on your left and right is all 1.
Attack Range - Fortunately, if you have a weapon with at least 2 attack range your can [Strike!] on the heroes within 2 distance while a weapon ONLY affects your [Strike!].

Turn & Phase - Every turn has 4 main phases: Preparing > Judging > Drawing > Playing > Discarding > Ending. 6 phases?! Preparing and ending phases are just courtesies, because they just help to ensure time for certain abilities.
Judging Phase - Delayed Scroll cards ONLY. A delayed scroll card need a revealed judgment to fuction.
Drawing Phase - You have to draw TWO cards.
Playing Phase - You may use any number of available cards in general.
Discarding Phase - After playing, you MUST discard cards to keep the number of your remained hand cards = the number of your life points.

Congratulations! You now have learned the basic rules of LTK and could play a 1V1, 1V1V1, 2V2 or 3V3 game. Don't forget, 4 role cards are still left on the tabletop.

Role - However, there is a more exciting mode - role playing. You may draw for your role, and then hide it. Every role has their own victory condition. Monarch & Minister: Death of all the rebels and turn-coat and survival of Monarch. Rebel: Death of the Monarch. Turn-coat: Death of all other heroes with the last death of the Monarch. The Monarch MUST show the role and +1 max life, and then a game starts from him/her. Note: 1. After a hero killed a rebel, the hero draw 3 cards. 2. After a monarch killed a minister, the monarch discard all cards.

There is only one card for each type of life points and roles, so you may need to Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V to copy and paste for more. You may also press ← and Delete to remove other needless objects.

There are some new concepts if playing expansion packs:
[Liquor] - You can +1 life only when dying; Once per playing phase. You may drink a [Liquor] and then the damage of your next [Strike!] +1.
Tap (Put it horizontal) - After a tapped hero take elemental damage, other tapped heroes also take the damage in turn with the same source, amount and element, then untap these damaged heroes.
One-off Ability - The ability can be only used once.
Match Point - You and the target play a flipped hand card, and then unflip it at the same time. The hero with a greater point wins.
Awakening Ability - Like Passive Ability and One-off Ability. Get a new ability in general. Black abilities will be gotten after Awakening Ability.
Flip Hero - Before a hero's turn, if he/she is flipped, the hero skips the turn and unflip the hero.
