Bowtie Access

I designed this rather odd intersection as an experiment to see if I could create a highway access that could connect city streets on both sides of a highway but without the wide space needed for more conventional on/off ramps.

Honestly, I was surprised at just how much traffic it could push through without congestion. Especially if the side streets that connect to the ramps flow in the same direction and nearby intersections have high-flow roundabouts.

Works really well as a highway access in combination with my "Hexchange" highway intersection.
