描述
Peiper attacked Stavelot on 18 December but was unable to capture the town before the Americans evacuated a large fuel depot. Pieper took the town after american engineers failed to blow the main bridge into the town. He then moved forward towards Stoumont, but while doing so Allied forces managed to re-take Stavelot.
