It's best to play Half-Life first, but we can't force you to play it if you really don't want to. But there are essential things to HL1 that make it so Half-Life and what allows Half-Life 2 to be such a great sequel. So, if you're planning on playing Black Mesa instead of HL1, get these mods with it before you play.
