c17_outside - Half-Life 2 Beta

c17_outside is a restoration of the WC mappack map of the same name found in the Half-Life 2 Beta. The map takes place during the Canals & Wasteland parts of the original storyline where Gordon Freeman escapes City 17 and makes his way to the Depot via the Canals. The Canals in the original story were intended to be crawling with wildlife such as Bullsquids & Houndeyes which obviously didn't make the final cut.

The map has been restored with all of its textures fixed and improved compared to the original and the map now comes with several NPCs for you to encounter and fight along the way. Music pieces begin to play when you reach certain areas and there are sustainable amounts of health packs and ammo along the way.

The map ends when you reach a small camp containing one Citizen NPC. The screen will fade to black prompting you to restart the map or load to another one. Using the "kill" console command will remove the black fade effect and allow you to play through the map again without having to reload.

- The map is internally referred to as "c17_outside" for those who want to operate by console and it can be found in the "Others" section of the map select screen.

- The map has been restored on the Half-Life 2: Episode 2 engine, where it will take advantage of the engine specific features and other visual effects.
