Neutralistic 1 (Afternoon)

描述
What is this file?

This is a colour adustment filter (or LUT) that tweaks the games graphics for a more natural/realistic look, including a different palette and lighting akin to soft summer northern hemisphere afternoon sunlight. I had been using the Tropical setting but I found it a bit strong, and all the other settings are quite saturated and high in contrast, so I made my own filter that better resembles warm afternoon light.

updated with version 2, I feel this Afternoon LUT is probably finished for the time being.
edit: Seems like there is some issue with the content managing process in Skylines. If you subscribed before Mar18 and you want the newer better version, please close C:S, unsubscribe and resubscribe.

I am also going to produce versions for different seasons or times of day.

Please feel free to ask questions or suggest improvements, or ask for different LUTs!

How do I use this file?

Hit the subscribe button to download this file to your Colour Corrections folder. In game, goto Options and on the first page, choose Naturalistic 1 on the colour corrections dropdown.

The file tells the game to instead use different shades and hues of colours in place of what it would normally use. So for example, instead of a really dark shadowed colour it might use a slightly brighter one, or instead of very bright coloured roofs, it might use bleached out colours.

Misc info for modders

Started with a neutral 2D LUT file[udn.epicgames.com] and an in-game screenshot of the game running the neutral LUT. Adjusted:

levels - raised midtones, added some HDR effect, better balance of shadows and midtones for afternoon sun.
colours - rebalanced colour palette, general desaturation, more realistic hues.
Blended together several versions of LUTs for more fine control over colours.

Changelog

Mar 18 - v2, (actually updated manually) (maybe?)
Mar 15 - v2, adjusted lighting for slightly deeper shadows, more definition. Worked over colour balance, the colours are now warmer as intended whilst maintaining the less saturated neutral style.
Mar 13 - v1, release
