November 1942, General Konev's 29th and 30th Armies have been fighting since the summer against the German 9th Army commanded by Model, in Rzhev, near Moscow. On November 25, Operation Mars begins, an offensive that must end the 9th Army and destroy the German Army Group Center or at least serve as a distraction to prevent the possible deployment of German reserves in support of Stalingrad.

It's a mission that combines elite infantry and tanks.

I beat it on EASY after getting slammed on NORMAL. The trick seemed to be to take mines from the trucks in the middle of the map and then lay the mines around the middle of the map at the start of the game until the enemy starts firing at me, then take those starting untis and make them flee to the left edge fo the map. Then have them move down the map to hook up with the starting forces that arrive with my main waves of reinforcements. The downside is that this leaves my allied green soldiers alone in a mass by the edge of the map to get slaughtered by the enemy tanks that come in the first enemy attack wave. Unfortunately it looks tough to protect them. Maybe laying lots of mines around that western/eft area of the map would work.
