Introducing Day Number 10, the Assaulstrinite Reaper

“We must look like insects to them. We who squabble and pester and writhe, calling it war. We haven’t seen a real war; legions of damned souls marching towards oblivion. We don’t know its price. The cost of sacrifice is never felt by the hand of the exactor.

In defence of his creation, Orenai sent forth his Seraphs, charging them with the defence of the beacons until their activation. The heavens shook and split, as the forces of light and dark battled for control of the universe, and when the walls had finally risen, both angel and assaulstrine were lost to the void.

For 2000 years the testaments spoke of the sacrifice of angels; how they fought until the end to keep the legacy of the stars safe. The truth of their demise was obscured until the walls came down: the reality that they had not died, but been enveloped - an unholy matrimony of order and chaos trapped in the seams between worlds.

Poor forgotten soldiers. One would have thought release might have been a relief. But to see what became of their efforts. 2000 years of suffering to see this *fraction* that Humans call life. To see what little their sacrifice amounted to.

I think we drove them mad.”
