描述

"11 November 1444. The day after the crushing defeat of the Poles and Hungarians by the Ottoman Turks at the Battle of Varna, and the death of King Władysław III of Poland, ending the Crusade of Varna. This left the Albanian armies under the capable general Skanderbeg to fend off the Ottoman armies alone, which they would do for the next 24 years..."

This mod aims to bring the year 1444 to life, through a changed start date, map, and technological setup, with plans to extend this treatment to characters, pops, situations, and more, to fully immerse you in this new yet familiar scenario.

WIP: this mod is being actively worked on, and far from finished. As such, many details may still be inaccurate. For this, your help would be appreciated, in researching the time period to help create the most accurate depiction of 1444 we can.

huge mod, my biggest gripes with this game are all in the first 100 years, after that the game is great.

Oof, good luck with the project. It's going to be a pain distributing correct population, building setups, all the rulers and dynasties for a new start date across 20k+ locations. Tech level balancing and all that too, pdx mostly focus on one start date instead of multiple since it's a lot of work, it's too bad they chose the worse year possible (before Black Death) since after the black death swept through all the population accuracy just go out the window anyway.

They could've picked a date in the 1350s or something and it would've been better than vanilla

Best start date. Set the stage for our modern europe/mid east. Even ww1 linked to fall of the Ottomans, Iberian's unable to continue reconquesta into Magrebh/North Africa = go west. Really a decisive moment in history.
