Feature
Right-click on a Vassal or Fiefdom to rename it. Currently, only these two types are available.

Principle
Pretend to be a Colonial Nation : Since the game seems to have compiled the part related to renaming colonial countries (at least I couldn't find it), I can only put a mask of is_colonial_subject = yes on vassals and fiefs to deceive the game into thinking they are colonial nations and change their names for me. Therefore, many problems will/should occur.

Existing Problems
  • Some actions chaos : The actions "Cancel Vassal Status", "Suggest Vassal" and "Change Fiefdom to Vassal" are merged into one action. When target country is a vassal, it is "Cancel Vassalage", and when it is a fief, it is "Change to Vassal". The same applies to "Cancel Fief" and "Convert Vassalage to Fief".
    In summary, actions with red X and green √ indicating AI intentions are "Change", and those without are "Cancel" .

  • Missing Translation : Need to be retranslated. I only did the localization for English and Simplified Chinese . I don't know why the "mask" caused the modification of key values, resulting in the merging of key names. That's why I merged the two diplomatic actions. It was a last resort.

  • Colonial behavior and events that may occur in your subjects : Caused by the act of colonial nation. Including but not limited to possible colonial revolutions in vassal states, specific colonial events, subjects can form its new culture , etc.

@玩原神玩的 确实是这样。不过用gui.debug确实能看出来是这个rename_dialog没错,但这只是个UI布局。UI逻辑他分开写了,我没找着,估计编译在exe或者哪个dll里了,就不给你看.jpg

@瓜子壳拌饭 研究了下rename_dialog.gui,感觉更像脚汗整了个半成品(甚至藏了个随机国名选项...),就没给非殖民国家存自定义国名键值的功能,就像游戏里给新生儿起名实际上是无效的装饰一样...估摸着蠢驴不更新的话这个功能实现不了只能套壳,佛了。

@玩原神玩的 我也试过,发现那行条件就是个壳,真正的代码被脚汗编译藏起来了,只露个殖民地的尾巴在外边,只能扯着尾巴给拽出来

把原版的改名前置条件取消了后试了下,任何国家都可见改名UI,但除了殖民国家外均不能保存输入的键值,蠢驴是真闲的抽象...

For forming new culture, vassals must have kingdom or empire rank (T3/4) , be disloyal , not to be a dominent country of a culture , need a cabinet and spend ten years to complete . So it's basically rare.
For colonial revolutions and other events, actually it also has an extreme limit: your subject's capital is not on the same continent .

so how common is the colonial event weirdness? especially any game changing events like changing culture or revolts and stuff

@DisgruntledPOG Maybe you can just become other's vassal and switch to it, then rename, cancel vassal status and switch back.

@StormFather Nope. They are still vassals and fiefs. Only when the game judges whether colony events occur, they would considered to be colonies.
